Abstract

The present invention relates to a laundry treatment apparatus, which senses laundry weight through operation of a driving unit and, if the driving portion does not operate due to an overload and the like, pauses the sensing of the laundry weight until the overload is removed, and can display a temporary laundry weight value on the outside thereof.

Claims (47)

1 . A laundry treating apparatus comprising:

a cabinet that defines an opening at a front side thereof;

a door coupled to the cabinet and configured to open and close the opening;

a locker configured to lock the door to the cabinet and to unlock the door from the cabinet;

a drum disposed inside the cabinet and configured to accommodate laundry;

a motor connected to the drum to rotate the drum;

a display portion disposed on the cabinet to display information; and

a power portion disposed on the cabinet to receive a command to supply power,

wherein the motor is configured to rotate the drum while the door is unlocked,

wherein the display portion is configured to display weight information of the laundry after the drum starts rotating, and

wherein the display portion is configured to display reference information based on a rotation of the drum not being controlled while the door is unlocked.

2 . The laundry treating apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the reference information is predetermined regardless of a weight of the laundry in the drum.

3 . The laundry treating apparatus of claim 1 , wherein in a state in which the door is unlocked and the rotation of the drum is not controlled, the motor is configured to attempt to rotate the drum for a reference time while the door is unlocked.

4 . The laundry treating apparatus of claim 3 , wherein the motor is configured to stop rotation of the drum for a specific time, based on that the rotation of the drum is out of control even if the rotation of the drum is attempted during the reference time.

5 . The laundry treating apparatus of claim 4 , wherein the motor is configured to attempt to rotate the drum again after the specific time.

6 . The laundry treating apparatus of claim 5 , wherein the display portion is configured to change the reference information into a weight information of the laundry based on that (i) the motor rotates the drum during the reference time or (ii) after the specific time after the reference information is displayed thereon.

7 . The laundry treating apparatus of claim 5 , wherein the display portion is configured to display error information including a state in which rotation of the drum is impossible, in a case in which the door is unlocked and the rotation of the drum is out of control even after the specific time.

8 . The laundry treating apparatus of claim 5 , further comprising an execution portion disposed on the cabinet and configured to receive an execution command for executing a course,

wherein the locker is configured to lock the door based on that the executing portion is input.

9 . The laundry treating apparatus of claim 8 , further comprising:

a tub accommodated in the cabinet and configured to store water, the tub accommodating the drum; and

a water supply valve coupled to the cabinet and connected to an external water supply source,

wherein the water supply valve is configured to be opened during the reference time or a preset rest time after the reference information is displayed on the display portion.

10 . The laundry treating apparatus of claim 9 , wherein the water supply valve is configured to be closed based on that the rotation of the drum is out of controlled even after the specific time.

11 . The laundry treating apparatus of claim 1 , further comprising:

a tub accommodated in the cabinet and configured to store water, the tub accommodating the drum; and

a water supply valve coupled to the cabinet and connected to an external water supply source,

wherein the water supply valve is configured to be closed until the drum begins to rotate while the reference information is displayed on the display portion.

12 . The laundry treating apparatus of claim 5 , wherein the motor is configured to rotate the drum less than one revolution after the specific time,

wherein the display portion is configured to change tentative weight information to the weight information of the laundry after the drum begins to rotate less than one revolution.

13 . The laundry treating apparatus of claim 1 , further comprising a selection portion disposed on the cabinet and configured to receive a selection command for selecting or changing a course,

wherein the weight information includes an execution time of the course based on a weight of the laundry,

wherein the display portion is configured to display a reference execution time of the course, and

wherein the execution time on the display portion is fixed, even if the course selected by the display portion is changed even if the course changes by the selection portion.

14 . The laundry treating apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the motor is configured to rotate the drum less than one rotation while the door is unlocked based on the power portion being input, and

wherein the display portion is configured to display weight information of the laundry after the drum begins to rotate less than one revolution.

15 . The laundry treating apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the reference information comprises prior weight information of laundry that is treated in a previously performed course.

16 . The laundry treating apparatus of claim 1 , further comprising a control panel comprises a plurality of buttons,

wherein at least one of the plurality of buttons is corresponding to the power portion.

17 . The laundry treating apparatus of claim 16 , wherein at least one of the plurality of buttons is configured to corresponding to an execution portion.

18 . The laundry treating apparatus of claim 16 , wherein the control panel comprises a rotary knob configured to receive a selection command for selecting a course among a plurality of courses to treat the laundry.

19 . A method for controlling a laundry treating apparatus, the laundry treating apparatus including a cabinet that defines an opening at a front side thereof, a door coupled to the cabinet and configured to open and close the opening, a locker configured to lock the door to the cabinet and to unlock the door from the cabinet, a drum disposed inside the cabinet and configured to accommodate laundry, a motor connected to the drum to rotate the drum, a display configured to display information, and a controller, the method comprising:

receiving a power command for supplying power to the controller;

controlling the motor to rotate the drum while the door is unlocked;

controlling the display to output weight information of the laundry that is obtained by rotating the drum while the door is unlocked; and

based on failing to obtain the weight information by rotating the drum while the door is unlocked, controlling the display to output reference information.

20 . The method of claim 19 , wherein the reference information is predetermined regardless of a weight of the laundry in the drum.
