Abstract

A system for providing a virtual reality experience includes a plurality of wall panels at a plurality of wall panel locations defining an X by Y area within the interior of the plurality of wall panels. At least one haptic feedback device associated with at least one of the plurality of wall panels for providing haptic feedback to a user. A transition area is associated with the X by Y area. A virtual reality system displays a first virtual reality environment to the user within at least a portion of the X by Y area. The first virtual reality environment defines a first virtual reality pathway for the user within the X by Y area to the at least one haptic feedback device. The virtual reality system displays a second virtual reality environment different from the first virtual reality environment within at least a portion of the X by Y area. The second virtual reality path defining a second virtual pathway for the user within the X by Y area to the at least one haptic feedback device that is different from the first virtual pathway responsive to the user entering the transition area while in the first virtual reality environment.

Claims (13)

1 . A method for providing a virtual reality experience to a VR user, comprising:

providing a plurality of wall panels at a plurality of wall panel locations defining a primary physical area within an interior of the plurality of wall panels;

providing a transition area associated with the primary physical area;

associating at least one haptic feedback device with at least one of the plurality of wall panels for providing haptic feedback to a user;

displaying, using a virtual reality system, a first virtual reality environment to a user within the primary physical area, the first virtual reality environment defining a first virtual reality pathway with a first virtual reality circuitous pathway for the user that uses a first circuitous physical path area within the primary physical area that leads physically to and terminates with the at least one haptic feedback device to allow the VR user to interact with the haptic feedback device and wherein the first virtual reality circuitous pathway crosses over portions of the primary physical area multiple times within the first virtual reality circuitous pathway;

detecting entry of the user into the transition area while in the first virtual reality environment; and

displaying, using the virtual reality system, a second virtual reality environment different from the first virtual reality environment within the primary physical area, the second virtual reality environment defining a second virtual pathway with a second virtual reality circuitous pathway for the user that uses a second circuitous physical path area that intersects with at least a portion of the first circuitous physical path area within the primary physical area that leads physically to and terminates with the at least one haptic feedback device to allow the VR user to interact with the haptic feedback device and wherein the second virtual reality circuitous pathway crosses over portions of the primary physical area multiple times within the second virtual reality circuitous pathway, which second virtual pathway is different from the first virtual reality pathway responsive to the user entering the transition area while in the first virtual reality environment.

2 . The method of claim 1 further comprising associating the transition area with at least one of the plurality of wall panel locations.

3 . The method of claim 1 wherein the providing further comprises providing a plurality of floor panels defining a floor of the primary physical area within the plurality of wall panels.

4 . The method of claim 3 , wherein providing further comprises removably connecting the plurality of floor panels to each other and further comprising removably connecting the plurality of wall panels to the plurality of floor panels.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein displaying the first and second virtual reality environments further comprise displaying virtual obstacles by the virtual reality system within the primary physical area to define the first and second virtual reality pathways.

6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein displaying the first and second virtual reality environments further comprises displaying virtual walls corresponding to the plurality of wall panels defining the primary physical area.

7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the transition area further comprises a transition module associated with at least one of the wall panel locations.
