Method for creating an artificial horizon
A method for creating an artificial horizon for a motor vehicle includes receiving input data relating to the motor vehicle and to its surroundings; determining different paths; and generating messages characterizing the artificial horizon, including long messages for characterizing events, each long message having multiple fields including at least a first field relating to a type of attribute characterizing the event and a second field indicating the value of the attribute. The first field can have at least two distinct values associated with a corresponding number of temporary event categories, the categories being separated according to their speeds and/or their positions relative to the motor vehicle.
1 . A method for preparing an artificial horizon for a motor vehicle, the method comprising:
receiving input data relating to the motor vehicle and to an environment of the motor vehicle;
determining various paths able to be taken by the motor vehicle; and
generating messages characterizing said artificial horizon, the messages including a long message associated with a temporary event found on any of the paths, each long message containing a plurality of fields, including a first field relating to a type of an attribute characterizing the temporary event and a second field indicating a value of the attribute,
wherein the first field of the long message is configured to take at least two separate predetermined values indicating a corresponding number of respective predefined categories of temporary events, said categories being defined by a speed of the temporary event and/or a position of the temporary event relative to the motor vehicle, wherein the speed and the position of the temporary event are different from a speed and a position of the motor vehicle, respectively.
2 . The preparing method as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the predefined categories of temporary events include dynamic events, events that are static or almost static with respect to the motor vehicle, and traffic lights, wherein each of the predefined categories has a different corresponding predetermined value in the first field of the long message.
3 . The preparing method as claimed in claim 2 , wherein the temporary event is one of the dynamic events when the speed of the temporary event is greater than a first threshold and/or when a distance to the motor vehicle is greater than a second threshold.
4 . The preparing method as claimed in claim 3 , wherein the first threshold and/or the second threshold is a function of a speed of the motor vehicle and/or of the speed of the temporary event and/or of the environment.
5 . The preparing method as claimed in claim 2 , wherein, when the speed and/or a distance to the motor vehicle of the temporary event varies over time, the value of the first field is configured to change.
6 . The preparing method as claimed in claim 2 , wherein at least one of the following events is a dynamic event:
a responding emergency vehicle,
a first vehicle, an emergency braking system of which is activated,
a second vehicle, a reversible occupant restraint system of which is activated,
a person or animal on a path,
mobile roadworks on the path,
a third vehicle driving contraflow,
mobile rescue and recovery work in progress,
a fourth vehicle driving at least one third slower than the maximum permissible speed,
a fifth vehicle causing a risk of collision,
a sixth vehicle violating traffic laws,
a dangerous situation.
7 . The preparing method as claimed in claim 2 , wherein at least one of the following events is a static event:
an accident,
roadworks,
an impassable path segment,
adverse weather conditions,
an area where aquaplaning has been observed,
a hazardous area,
an area where rescue and recovery work is in progress,
a stationary vehicle,
a dangerous end of queue.
8 . The preparing method as claimed in claim 1 , wherein each long message associated with one of the categories of temporary events contains two fields allowing each temporary event to be identified in two separate ways.
9 . The preparing method as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the input data are at least partly derived from a decentralized event notification message (DENM) and/or a co-operative awareness message (CAM) sent by a third-party vehicle.
10 . A motor vehicle, comprising:
software clients, among which are a human-machine interface, or a navigation system, and/or advanced driver-assistance systems; and
a main interface that is programmed to implement the preparing method as claimed in claim 1 in order to deliver to each of the software clients at least one portion of the prepared artificial horizon.
11 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the messages follow a modification of the Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems Interface Specification (ADASIS) protocol in which particular values of a profile type field of the ADASIS protocol are modified to designate dynamic events, static events, and a state of a traffic light.
