Abstract

Disclosed are systems and methods to provide continuous power to electrical devices using a portable power supply unit and a portable power charging unit. The portable power supply unit may include a first battery providing a first DC output, at least one first inverter for converting said first DC output to a first AC output for powering the electrical devices and for converting a first AC input to a first DC input for charging said first battery The portable power charging unit may include a second battery for providing a second DC output, a second inverter for converting said second DC output to a second AC output; and transmitting the second AC output to the first battery using charging ports on respective units such that said second AC output replaces said first AC output for powering said electrical devices, and replaces said first AC input for charging said first battery.

Claims (24)

1 . A system for providing power to a plurality of non-motive portable power supply units disposed in remote locations, each of the portable power supply units having a first battery and configured to provide a first AC output therefrom and having at least one first charging port in communication with the first battery and power output, comprising:

a plurality of locomotive portable power charging units, each of said portable power charging units comprising:

a motive movable platform;

a second battery for providing a DC output;

a second inverter for converting said second DC output to a second AC output; and

a second charging port configured to be electrically coupled to the at least one first charging port of one of the portable power supply units for charging said first battery of one of said portable power supply units and providing said second AC output to said portable power supply unit in replacement of said first AC output;

and

a central charging and monitoring system, said central charging and monitoring system comprising:

a charging station controller comprising a processor, a memory and machine-readable code stored in said memory and executable by said processor, and a communication interface;

a renewable source of power;

a plurality of charging stations for charging the second batteries of the portable power supply units at the central location from the renewable source of power; and

said charging station controller configured to receive, via said communication interface from said portable power supply units, information regarding a power level thereof and utilize said power level information and information regarding a location of each of said remote locations to optimize movement of the portable power charging units from the central charging and monitoring system to the remote locations for re-charging of the portable power supply units at the remote locations.

2 . The system according to claim 1 , wherein said information regarding a power level comprises an alert that a power level thereof has dropped below a predetermined value.

3 . The system according to claim 1 , wherein said information regarding a power level comprises information regarding an amount of calculated time remaining until a charge level of the batter of the portable power supply unit reaches a predetermined level.

4 . The system according to claim 1 , wherein the information regarding a power level further comprises information regarding a power usage of the first battery of the portable power supply unit.

5 . The system according to claim 1 , wherein the first battery is configured to hold a first amount of power, wherein the second battery is configured to hold a second amount of power, and wherein the second amount of power is at least two times the first amount of power.

6 . The system according to claim 1 , wherein the charging station controller is configured to determine said optimized movement based upon a distance between the central charging station and said remote locations, a distance between said portable power supply units at said remote locations, and an amount of power needed to recharge the first battery of each of the portable power supply units.

7 . The system according to claim 1 , wherein said second AC output is provided to said power output of said one of the portable power supply units in replacement of said first AC output in order to supply power from said power output of the one of the portable power supply units to the one or more electronic devices without interruption.

8 . The system according to claim 1 , wherein said second AC output is configured to be provided to at least one first inverter of said portable power supply unit for conversion of said second AC input into a first DC input for charging said first battery of the portable power supply unit from said second battery.

9 . The system according to claim 1 , wherein said renewal power source comprises a solar powered source.

10 . The system according to claim 9 , wherein said solar powered source comprises a plurality of solar panels.

11 . The system according to claim 1 , wherein said locomotive portable power charging units comprise trucks having said second battery rollably supported thereby.

12 . The system according to claim 1 , wherein said optimized movement is associated with a generated driving route for a driver of each portable power charging unit.

13 . The system according to claim 1 , wherein said charging station controller if further configured to utilize receive, via said communication interface from said portable supply units, information regarding a power level thereof and utilize said power level information and information regarding said remote locations to optimize movement based upon traffic information.
