Abstract

The present disclosure relates to a data driving device and a method of driving the data driving device and, more particularly, to a data driving device and a method of driving the same in which a tuning of a set value of an internal circuit is automatically performed.

Claims (55)

1 . A method performed by a display device comprising a display panel, a data driving device for driving the display panel, and a data processing device for transmitting image data to the data driving device, the method comprising:

transmitting, from the data processing device to the data driving device, a communication signal which includes a training clock pattern for performing a first clock training in each of one or more of a plurality of time intervals,

wherein the first clock training is performed in each of said one or more of the plurality of time intervals before a second clock training is performed, and

wherein the second clock training is performed after the plurality of time intervals; and

after transmitting, from the data processing device to the data driving device, the communication signal including a training clock pattern, determining, by the data driving device, a result of the first clock training performed in each of said one or more of the plurality of time intervals,

wherein each of said one or more of the plurality of time intervals is associated with a control value that is for determining a configuration for performing the first clock training in each of said one or more of the plurality of time intervals.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the configuration for performing the first clock training in each of said one or more of the plurality of time intervals comprises a frequency of a clock recovery circuit included in the data driving device.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein

said one or more of the plurality of time intervals comprise at least a first time interval and a second time interval, and

the control value for determining the configuration for performing the first clock training in the first time interval is different from the control value for determining the configuration for performing the first clock training in the second time interval.

4 . The method of claim 1 , the method comprising:

performing a first data communication between the data processing device and the data driving device; and

after performing the first data communication between the data processing device and the data driving device, performing a second data communication between the data processing device and the data driving device, wherein

the first data communication is associated with a first speed, and

the second data communication is associated with a second speed.

5 . The method of claim 4 , wherein the first and second speeds are different, and the second speed is higher than the first speed.

6 . The method of claim 4 , wherein, during the second data communication, the communication signal including the training clock pattern is transmitted from the data processing device to the data driving device.

7 . The method of claim 4 , wherein, during the first data communication, setup data for the second data communication is transmitted from the data processing device to the data driving device.

8 . The method of claim 1 , the method comprising:

after the first and second clock trainings are performed, transmitting the image data from the data processing device to the data driving device.

9 . The method of claim 1 , the method comprising:

generating, at the data driving device, a lock signal indicating a result of the first clock training performed in each of said one or more of the plurality of time intervals; and

transmitting, from the data driving device to the data processing device, the generated lock signal indicating the result of the first clock training performed in each of said one or more of the plurality of time intervals.

10 . A display device comprising:

a display panel;

a data driving device for driving the display panel; and

a data processing device for transmitting image data to the data driving device,

wherein the display device is configured to:

transmit, from the data processing device to the data driving device, a communication signal which includes a training clock pattern for performing a first clock training in each of one or more of a plurality of time intervals,

wherein the first clock training is performed in each of said one or more of the plurality of time intervals before a second clock training is performed, and

wherein the second clock training is performed after the plurality of time intervals; and

after transmitting, from the data processing device to the data driving device, the communication signal including a training clock pattern, determine, by the data driving device, a result of the first clock training performed in each of said one or more of the plurality of time intervals, and

wherein each of said one or more of the plurality of time intervals is associated with a control value that is for determining a configuration for performing the first clock training in each of said one or more of the plurality of time intervals.

11 . The display device of claim 10 , wherein the configuration for performing the first clock training in each of said one or more of the plurality of time intervals comprises a frequency of a clock recovery circuit included in the data driving device.

12 . The display device of claim 10 , wherein

said one or more of the plurality of time intervals comprise at least a first time interval and a second time interval, and

the control value for determining the configuration for performing the first clock training in the first time interval is different from the control value for determining the configuration for performing the first clock training in the second time interval.

13 . The display device of claim 10 , wherein the display device is configured to:

perform a first data communication between the data processing device and the data driving device; and

after performing the first data communication between the data processing device and the data driving device, perform a second data communication between the data processing device and the data driving device, wherein

the first data communication is associated with a first speed, and

the second data communication is associated with a second speed.

14 . The display device of claim 13 , wherein, during the second data communication, the communication signal including the training clock pattern is transmitted from the data processing device to the data driving device.

15 . The display device of claim 13 , wherein, during the first data communication, setup data for the second data communication is transmitted from the data processing device to the data driving device.

16 . The display device of claim 10 , wherein the display device is configured to:

after the first and second clock trainings are performed, transmit the image data from the data processing device to the data driving device.

17 . The display device of claim 10 , wherein the display device is configured to:

generate, at the data driving device, a lock signal indicating a result of the first clock training performed in each of said one or more of the plurality of time intervals; and

transmit, from the data driving device to the data processing device, the generated lock signal indicating the result of the first clock training performed in each of said one or more of the plurality of time intervals.

18 . A method performed by a data driving device for receiving image data from a data processing device and for driving a display panel, the method comprising:

receiving, from the data processing device, a communication signal including a training clock pattern for performing a first clock training in each of one or more of a plurality of time intervals,

wherein the first clock training is performed in each of said one or more of the plurality of time intervals before a second clock training is performed, and

wherein the second clock training is performed after the plurality of time intervals; and

after receiving, from the data processing device, the communication signal including a training clock pattern, determining a result of the first clock training performed in each of said one or more of the plurality of time intervals,

wherein each of said one or more of the plurality of time intervals is associated with a control value that is for determining a configuration for performing the first clock training in each of said one or more of the plurality of time intervals.
