Abstract

A content management system that is configured to receive, over a network, a request from a first application associated with a user to access a container in a content navigation structure, mark a location in the content navigation structure for the user based on activity by the user in the first application, associate a second application with the user and provide the marked location over the network to the second application to enable the second application to access the marked location.

a client computer system connected to the content management system by a network, the client computer system comprising:

a client computer system processor;

a client computer system memory, storing:

the first client application, wherein the first client application comprises instructions executable for:

presenting a user interface to the user to allow the user to navigate the content navigation structure; and

2 . The location aware system of claim 1 , wherein the wherein the first client application and the second client application reside on a same client device.

3 . The location aware system of claim 1 , wherein the client computer system comprises a plurality of client devices, and wherein the first client application and the second client application reside at different client devices.

4 . The location aware system of claim 3 , wherein the first client application is a desktop application and the second client application is a mobile application.

5 . The location aware system of claim 1 , wherein the computer-executable instructions of the content management system comprise instructions for associating the first client application and the second client application with the user based the first client application and the second client application authenticating with credentials associated with the user.

6 . The location aware system of claim 1 , wherein the second client application comprises instructions executable for sending an access request to the content management system with an indicator to use the marked location without specifying the marked location and wherein using the location marker to allow the second client application to directly access the marked location without navigating through the content navigation structure to the marked location comprises:

receiving the access request from the second client application with the indicator to use the marked location;

based on the indicator to use the marked location, accessing the marked location from the location marker; and

resolving the access request using the marked location from the location marker.

7 . The location aware system of claim 6 , wherein storing the identified location to the location marker as the marked location for the user comprises updating the location marker with a current location of the user in the content navigation structure as the user navigates the content navigation structure using the first client application.

8 . The location aware system of claim 6 , wherein the identified location is a user selected location explicitly selected by the user to be the marked location.

9 . The location aware system of claim 1 :

wherein directly accessing the marked location in the content navigation structure without navigating through the content navigation structure to the marked location comprises:

requesting the marked location from the content management system;

receiving the marked location from the content management system;

setting a target location of an access request to the marked location; and

sending the access request to the content management system to access the target location;

wherein using the location marker to allow the second client application to directly access the marked location without navigating through the content navigation structure to the marked location comprises:

receiving a request for the marked location from the second client application;

access the marked location from the location marker; and

sending the marked location from the location marker to the first client application.

10 . The location aware system of claim 9 , wherein storing the identified location to the location marker as the marked location for the user comprises updating the location marker with a current location of the user in the content navigation structure as the user navigates the content navigation structure using the first client application.

11 . The location aware system of claim 9 , wherein the identified location is a user selected location explicitly selected by the user to be the marked location.

12 . The location aware system of claim 9 , wherein requesting the marked location from the content management system comprises automatically requesting the marked location from the content management system during a handshake with the content management system.

13 . The location aware system of claim 1 , wherein the second client application is web browser and the second client application is an imaging applicant, wherein the second client application requests the marked location from the content management system based on at least one of: the second client application opening, an image being captured, or the user selecting to upload the image to the content management system.

14 . A device for location aware content access, comprising:

a communications interface;

a processor;

a memory connected to the processor, the memory storing thereon a client application that is executable by the processor, the client application comprising instructions executable for:

logging in, with a credential for a user, to a content management system that comprises a location marker storing a marked location tracked for the user by the content management system based on a user activity with respect to a content navigation structure by the user in another application associated with the user, the marked location being a location represented in the content navigation structure, the content navigation structure having a designated entry point for the user; and

directly accessing the marked location from the location marker without navigating through the content navigation structure to the marked location.

15 . The device of claim 14 , wherein the marked location is a current location of the user in the content navigation structure as navigated using the other application.

16 . The device of claim 14 , wherein the client application comprises instructions executable for:

automatically requesting the marked location from the content management system; and

receiving the marked location from the content management system, wherein directly accessing the marked location from the location marker without navigating through the content navigation structure to the marked location comprises:
