Abstract

An apparatus acquires an image by reading a document, extracts a plurality of regions having a predetermined attribute from the acquired image, determines information about a registered document most similar to the acquired image from among information about a plurality of registered documents stored in a storage unit with use of positional information about the extracted plurality of regions, selects a processing target region in the acquired image based on a position of a processing target region previously specified with respect to the determined information about the most similar registered document, performs character recognition processing on the selected processing target region, and displays text data obtained by the character recognition processing.

Claims (70)

1 . An information processing apparatus comprising:

one or more memories that store programs; and

one or more processors that execute the programs to:

display a scanned image on a display;

in response to receiving a user operation on an areas in the displayed scanned image, add, to the scanned image, a character string for the area; and

in response to receiving, in a state where the character string is added to the scanned image, another user operation on another area in the displayed scanned image, add, to the scanned image, another character string for said another area,

wherein based on character strings included in areas which, in another scanned image, correspond to the area and said another area, a file name of a file including said another scanned image is set.

2 . The information processing apparatus according to claim 1 ,

wherein the character string for the area added to the scanned image and said another character string for said another area added to the scanned image are numbers.

3 . The information processing apparatus according to claim 1 ,

wherein said another character string for said another area is displayed with the character string for the area.

4 . The information processing apparatus according to claim 1 ,

wherein the character strings used for setting the file name include results of character recognition processing on the areas which, in said another scanned image, correspond to the area and said another area.

5 . The information processing apparatus according to claim 1 ,

wherein in response to receiving, in a state where the area and said another area are selected based on the user operation on the area and said another user operation on said another area, a user operation on a predetermined button, position information of the area and said another area is saved, and

wherein the file name of the file including said another scanned image is set based on the character strings included in the areas in said another scanned image specified by the saved position information of the area and said another area.

6 . The information processing apparatus according to claim 1 ,

wherein the one or more processors further execute the programs to:

set, based on the character strings included in the areas which, in said another scanned image, correspond to the area and said another area, the file name of the file including said another scanned image.

7 . The information processing apparatus according to claim 1 ,

wherein in response to receiving the user operation on the area in the displayed scanned image, a result of character recognition processing on the area is displayed besides the scanned image, and

wherein in response to receiving said another user operation on said another area in the displayed scanned image, a result of character recognition processing on said another area is displayed besides the scanned image.

8 . The information processing apparatus according to claim 1 ,

wherein the scanned image is an image obtained by scanning a document.

9 . A method comprising:

displaying a scanned image on a display;

in response to receiving a user operation on an area in the displayed scanned image, add, to the scanned image, a character string for the area; and

in response to receiving, in a state where the character string is added to the scanned image, another user operation on another area in the displayed scanned image, add, to the scanned image, another character string for said another area,

wherein based on character strings included in areas which, in another scanned image, correspond to the area and said another area, a file name of a file including said another scanned image is set.

10 . The method according to claim 9 ,

wherein the character string for the area added to the scanned image and said another character string for said another area added to the scanned image are numbers.

11 . The method according to claim 9 ,

wherein said another character string for said another area is displayed with the character string for the area.

12 . The method according to claim 9 ,

wherein the character strings used for setting the file name include results of character recognition processing on the areas which, in said another scanned image correspond to the area and said another area.

13 . The method according to claim 9 ,

wherein in response to receiving, in a state where the area and said another area are selected based on the user operation on the area and said another user operation on said another area, a user operation on a predetermined button, position information of the area and said another area is saved, and

wherein the file name of the file including said another scanned image is set based on the character strings included in the areas in said another scanned image specified by the saved position information of the area and said another area.

14 . The method according to claim 9 further comprising:

setting, based on the character strings included in the areas which, in said another scanned image, correspond to the area and said another area, the file name of the file including said another scanned image.

15 . The method according to claim 9 ,

wherein in response to receiving the user operation on the area in the displayed scanned image, a results of character recognition processing on the area is displayed besides the scanned image, and

wherein in response to receiving said another user operation on said another area in the displayed scanned image, a result of character recognition processing on said another area is displayed besides the scanned image.

16 . The method according to claim 9 ,

wherein the scanned image is an image obtained by scanning a document.

17 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing one or more programs that, when executed by a computer, cause the computer to:

display a scanned image on a display;

in response to receiving a user operation on an areas in the displayed scanned image, add, to the scanned image, a character string for the area; and

in response to receiving, in a state where the character string is added to the scanned image, another user operation on another area in the displayed scanned image, add, to the scanned image, another character string for said another area,

wherein based on character strings included in areas which, in another scanned image, correspond to the area and said another area, a file name of a file including said another scanned image is set.

18 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium according to claim 17 ,

wherein the character string for the area added to the scanned image and said another character string for said another area added to the scanned image are numbers.

19 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium according to claim 17 ,

wherein said another character string for said another area is displayed with the character string for the area.

20 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium according to claim 17 ,

wherein the character strings used for setting the file name include results of character recognition processing on the areas which, in said another scanned image, correspond to the area and said another area.

21 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium according to claim 17 ,

wherein in response to receiving, in a state where the area and said another area are selected based on the user operation on the area and said another user operation on said another area, a user operation on a predetermined button, position information of the area and said another area is saved, and

wherein the file name of the file including said another scanned image is set based on the character strings included in the areas in said another scanned image specified by the saved position information of the area and said another area.

22 . The non-transitory computer readable storage medium according to claim 17 ,

wherein the one or more programs further cause the computer to:

set, based on the character strings included in the areas which, in said another scanned image, correspond to the area and said another area, the file name of the file including said another scanned image.

23 . The non-transitory computer readable storage medium according to claim 17 ,

wherein in response to receiving the user operation on the area in the displayed scanned image, a result of character recognition processing on the area is displayed besides the scanned image, and

wherein in response to receiving said another user operation on said another area in the displayed scanned image, a result of character recognition processing on said another area is displayed besides the scanned image.

24 . The non-transitory computer readable storage medium according to claim 17 ,

wherein the scanned image is an image obtained by scanning a document.

25 . The information processing apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the character string and said another character string indicate different contents.

26 . The method according to claim 9 , wherein the character string and said another character string indicate different contents.
