Head mountable display
A head-mountable display device includes a housing defining a front opening and a rear opening, a display screen disposed in the front opening, a display assembly disposed in the rear opening, a first securement strap coupled to the housing, the first securement strap including a first electronic component, a second securement strap coupled to the housing, the second securement strap including a second electronic component, and a securement band extending between and coupled to the first securement strap and the second securement strap.
1 . A head-mountable electronic device, comprising:
a housing;
an input member located on the housing and configured to receive an input from a user of the head-mountable electronic device;
an outward facing sensor attached to the housing, the outward facing sensor configured to capture an image of an environment of the user in response to receiving the input;
an inward facing sensor attached to the housing, the inward facing sensor configured to detect a facial feature of the user in response to receiving the input, and
a processor configured to perform an action based on both the input received at the input member and the facial feature of the user.
2 . The head-mountable electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the input member is configured to toggle between a first activation of the outward facing sensor and a second activation of the inward facing sensor.
3 . The head-mountable electronic device of claim 1 , wherein:
the input is a first input;
the input member is configured to receive a second input different than the first input;
the outward facing sensor is configured to capture the image in response to the first input; and
the inward facing sensor is configured to capture the facial feature of the user in response to the second input.
4 . The head-mountable electronic device of claim 1 , wherein, in response to receiving the input at the input member, the outward facing camera is configured to capture a first video and the inward facing camera is configured to capture a second video.
5 . The head-mountable electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the input member comprises a dial.
6 . The head-mountable electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the input member comprises a tactile button.
7 . The head-mountable electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the input member comprises a capacitive touch sensor.
8 . The head-mountable electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the facial feature comprises a gaze direction of the user.
9 . The head-mountable electronic device of claim 1 , further comprising a display configured to project light toward an eye of the user, the display configured to depict the image.
10 . The head-mountable electronic device of claim 1 , further comprising a display configured to project light toward an eye of the user, the display configured to depict the facial feature.
11 . The head-mountable electronic device of claim 1 , wherein:
the outward facing sensor comprises a front camera configured to capture the image;
the image is a first image; and
the inward facing sensor comprises a rear camera configured to capture a second image of a face of the user.
12 . A head-mountable display, comprising:
a housing comprising:
a front end facing an environment of the head-mountable display;
a rear end facing a user wearing the head-mountable display when donned;
a front facing camera attached to the front end and configured to observe a feature of the environment;
a rear facing camera attached to the rear end and configured to detect an eye feature of the user;
an input member accessible on an exterior of the housing; and
a processor electrically coupled to the input member and configured to cause the head-mountable display to perform an action based on both an input received at the input member and an input received from the eye feature of the user.
13 . The head-mountable display of claim 12 , wherein the input member at least partially defines the exterior of the housing.
14 . The head-mountable display of claim 12 , wherein:
the processor is electrically coupled to the front facing camera and the rear facing camera; and
the action comprises:
capturing a first image using the front facing camera;
capturing a second image using the rear facing camera; and
generating a combined image based on the front facing camera and the rear facing camera.
15 . The head-mountable display of claim 12 , wherein the feature comprises real world content, the processor configured to overlay the real world content with virtual content projected on a user-facing display.
16 . The head-mountable display of claim 12 , wherein the rear facing camera is further configured to capture a facial feature of the user.
17 . The head-mountable display of claim 16 , wherein the processor is configured to generate an image of the user based on the facial feature captured by the rear facing camera and the eye feature captured by the rear facing camera.
18 . A head-mountable display device, comprising:
a frame;
a front facing sensor system attached to the frame and configured to detect an environment of a user;
an optical module attached to the frame and configured to detect a facial feature of the user;
an input member accessible from an exterior of the head-mountable display device; and
a processor electrically coupled to the input member and configured to cause the head-mountable display device to perform an action based on both an input received at the input member and the facial feature of the user.
19 . The head-mountable display device of claim 18 , wherein the front facing sensor system is configured to:
capture a video of the environment while the input member is actuated; and
cease capturing the video in response to the input member no longer being actuated.
