Abstract

Method, apparatus, and systems for determining and transmitting positioning information in a wireless communication network are provided. For example, a method for wireless communications comprises receiving configuration information related to a set of positioning configurations and a small data transmission (SDT), determining, based on the configuration information, that at least one positioning configuration of the set of positioning configurations satisfies a positioning requirement and is associated with a payload size being less than a data volume threshold (DVT) associated with the SDT, selecting, from the at least one positioning configuration, a positioning configuration associated with a payload size being closest to the DVT, performing a positioning measurement based on the selected positioning configuration, and sending, using an uplink resource for the SDT, a measurement report based on the selected positioning configuration and the positioning measurement.

Claims (29)

1 . A method implemented in a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU), the method comprising:

receiving a configuration of sounding reference signals (SRS) for positioning, wherein the configuration comprises information indicating one or more SRS resources, a validity area information associated with the configuration, and a validity time information associated with the configuration, wherein the validity area information associated with the configuration comprises an indication of one or more cells, wherein the information indicating the one or more SRS resources comprises information indicating frequency position information, frequency hopping information, spatial relation information, or symbol information;

transitioning to an INACTIVE mode;

initializing a validity timer in accordance with the validity time information indicated by the configuration;

sending a first SRS transmission using the one or more configured SRS resources during operation of the INACTIVE mode; and

on condition that a cell is one of the one or more cells comprised in the validity area information associated with the configuration, and on condition that the validity time is running, transmitting a second SRS transmission using the one or more configured SRS resources.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the configuration is received in a radio resource control (RRC) release message.

3 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising initializing the validity timer in accordance with the validity time information indicated by the configuration during the transition to the INACTIVE mode.

4 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising refraining from transmitting SRS transmissions in accordance with the configuration on condition that the validity timer has expired.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the configuration comprises information indicating an SRS resource set that includes the one or more SRS resources.

6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the cell is at least one of a new cell, a target cell, a new gNB, or a target gNB.

7 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising transmitting a request message on condition that the cell is not one of the one or more cells comprised in the validity area information associated with the configuration, wherein the request message comprises information indicating a request for an SRS configuration.

8 . The method of claim 7 , wherein the request message comprises a resume request message.

9 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the indication of one or more cells identifies the one or more cells via one or more cell IDs.

10 . A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) comprising:

a processor configured to:

receive a configuration of sounding reference signals (SRS) for positioning, wherein the configuration comprises information indicating one or more SRS resources, a validity area information associated with the configuration, and a validity time information associated with the configuration, wherein the validity area information associated with the configuration comprises an indication of one or more cells, wherein the information indicating the one or more SRS resources comprises information indicating frequency position information, frequency hopping information, spatial relation information, or symbol information;

transition to an INACTIVE mode;

initialize a validity timer in accordance with the validity time information indicated by the configuration;

send a first SRS transmission using the one or more configured SRS resources during operation in the INACTIVE mode; and

on condition that a cell is one of the one or more cells comprised in the validity area information associated with the configuration, and on condition that the validity timer is running, transmit a second SRS transmission using the one or more configured SRS resources.

11 . The WTRU of claim 10 , wherein the configuration is received in a radio resource control (RRC) release message.

12 . The WTRU of claim 10 , wherein the processor is configured to initialize the validity timer in accordance with the validity time information indicated by the configuration during the transition to the INACTIVE mode.

13 . The WTRU of claim 10 , wherein the processor is configured to refrain from transmitting SRS transmissions in accordance with the configuration on condition that the validity timer has expired.

14 . The WTRU of claim 10 , wherein the configuration comprises information indicating an SRS resource set that includes the one or more SRS resources.

15 . The WTRU of claim 10 , wherein the cell is at least one of a new cell, a target cell, a new gNB, or a target gNB.

16 . The WTRU of claim 10 , wherein the processor is configured to transmit a request message on condition that the cell is not one of the one or more cells comprised in the validity area information associated with the configuration, wherein the request message comprises information indicating a request for an SRS configuration.

17 . The WTRU of claim 16 , wherein the request message comprises a resume request message.

18 . The WTRU of claim 10 , wherein the indication of one or more cells identifies the one or more cells via one or more cell IDs.
