Abstract

A method performed by a user equipment (UE) for handling communication in a wireless communications network is described. The UE obtains an indication of a first size of a grant for a first type of data transmission and transmits an access request to a radio network node to perform data transmission of the first type of data transmission. Then the UE receives a grant from the radio network node. The grant indicates a size for granted data transmission, or comprises a type indication of type of data transmission of the granted data transmission. The UE compares the first size with the indicated size in the grant, or the first type of data transmission and the type of data transmission indicated by the type indication in the received grant, and based on the comparison, determines whether to use the received grant for performing data transmissions or not.

Claims (32)

1 . A method performed by a user equipment (UE) for handling communication in a wireless communications network, the method comprising:

obtaining an indication of a first size of a grant for a first type of data transmission;

transmitting an access request to a radio network node to perform data transmission of the first type of data transmission, wherein the access request comprises an indication indicating the first type of data transmission;

receiving a grant from the radio network node, wherein the grant indicates a size for granted data transmission, or comprises a type indication of type of data transmission of the granted data transmission;

comparing the first size with the indicated size in the grant, or the first type of data transmission and the type of data transmission indicated by the type indication in the received grant; and

based on the comparison, determining whether to use the received grant for performing data transmissions or not, wherein the first type of data transmission is small data transmission (SDT) or Early Data transmission (EDT).

2 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein the indication of the first size is obtained by the UE by being configured with a number of sizes for different preambles and/or different types of data transmissions.

3 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein the grant is received in a random access response.

4 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein determining whether to use the grant for performing data transmissions or not comprises, if the size in the received grant matches the first size, or the first type of data transmission matches the type of data transmission indicated by the type indication in the received grant, using resources to perform data transmission.

5 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein determining whether to use the grant for performing data transmissions or not comprises, if the size in the received grant does not match the first size, or the first type of data transmission does not match the type of data transmission indicated by the type indication in the received grant, continue monitoring for a response over a time interval, or going back to resource selection.

6 . A method performed by a radio network node for handling communication in a wireless communications network, the method comprising:

receiving from a user equipment (UE) an access request to perform data transmission of a first type; and

responding to the UE with a grant of a size, wherein the size of the grant is based on the first type of data transmission, or the grant comprises a type indication of the first type of data transmission of a granted data transmission, wherein the access request comprises an indication indicating the first type of data transmission, wherein the first type of data transmission is small data transmission (SDT) or Early Data transmission (EDT).

7 . The method according to claim 6 , further comprising configuring the UE with a first size of grants for a data transmission of the first type.

8 . The method according to claim 7 , wherein configuring the UE with the first size comprises configuring the UE with a number of sizes for different preambles and/or different types of data transmissions.

9 . A user equipment (UE) for handling communication in a wireless communications network, wherein the UE is configured to:

obtain an indication of a first size of a grant for a first type of data transmission;

transmit an access request to a radio network node to perform data transmission of the first type of data transmission, wherein the access request comprises an indication indicating the first type of data transmission;

receive a grant from the radio network node, wherein the grant indicates a size for granted data transmission, or comprises a type indication of type of data transmission of the granted data transmission;

compare the first size with the indicated size in the grant, or the first type of data transmission and the type of data transmission indicated by the type indication in the received grant; and

based on the comparison, determine whether to use the received grant for performing data transmissions or not, wherein the first type of data transmission is small data transmission (SDT) or Early Data transmission (EDT).

10 . The UE according to claim 9 , wherein the indication of the first size is obtained by the UE by being configured with a number of sizes for different preambles and/or different types of data transmissions.

11 . The UE according to claim 9 , wherein the grant is received in a random access response.

12 . The UE according to claim 9 , wherein the UE is configured to, if the size in the received grant matches the first size, or the first type of data transmission matches the type of data transmission indicated by the type indication in the received grant, use resources to perform data transmission.

13 . The UE according to claim 9 , wherein the UE is configured to, if the size in the received grant does not match the first size, or the first type of data transmission matches the type of data transmission indicated by the type indication in the received grant, continue monitoring for a response over a time interval, or go back to resource selection.

14 . A radio network node for handling communication in a wireless communications network, wherein the radio network node is configured to:

receive, from a user equipment (UE) an access request to perform data transmission of a first type; and

respond to the UE with a grant of a size, wherein the size of the grant is based on the first type of data transmission, or the grant comprises a type indication of the first type of data transmission of the granted data transmission, wherein the access request comprises an indication indicating the first type of data transmission, wherein the first type of data transmission is small data transmission (SDT) or Early Data transmission (EDT).

15 . The radio network node according to claim 14 , wherein the radio network node is further configured to configure the UE with a first size of grants for a data transmission of the first type.

16 . The radio network node according to claim 15 , wherein the radio network node is configured to configure the UE with the first size by configuring the UE with a number of sizes for different preambles and/or different types of data transmissions.

17 . A computer program product stored in a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium comprising instructions, which, when executed on at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to carry out the method according to claim 1 .

18 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium, having stored thereon a computer program product comprising instructions which, when executed on at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to carry out the method according to claim 1 .
