Mitigation of ammonia, odor and greenhouse gases
Fertilizer compositions comprising urea and a mixture comprising one or more tannins, preferably tannic acid, and fluoride selected from the group consisting of sodium fluoride (NaF), potassium fluoride (KF), lithium fluoride (LiF) and combinations thereof are provided. Methods for mitigating ammonia, production and/or ammonia emissions and/or for mitigating the transition of urea to ammonia in a composition with the compositions are also provided.
1 . A fertilizer composition, comprising:
(a) urea; and
(b) a mixture comprising
one or more tannins; and
fluoride selected from the group consisting of sodium fluoride (NaF), potassium fluoride (KF), lithium fluoride (LiF) and combinations thereof;
wherein the molar ratio between the one or more tannins and the fluoride is 100:1-1:1.
2 . The composition according to claim 1 , wherein said tannin is tannic acid.
3 . The composition according to claim 1 , wherein:
the fluoride is NaF and the NaF is 0.01 mM-1 M; and
the tannin is tannic acid and the tannic acid is 0.01 mM-0.5 M.
4 . The composition according to claim 1 , wherein said composition is in a dry state or in a solution.
5 . The composition according to claim 1 , further comprising a binder.
6 . The composition according to claim 1 , further comprising:
acetohydroxamic acid (AHA).
7 . The composition according to claim 1 , wherein the molar ratio between the one or more tannins and the fluoride is 50:1-1:1.
8 . The composition according to claim 1 , comprising 2-99% (w/w) urea.
9 . The composition according to claim 1 , comprising 20-80% (w/w) urea.
10 . The composition according to claim 1 , comprising 4-90% (w/w) nitrogen.
11 . The composition according to claim 1 , wherein the molar ratio between the one or more tannins and the fluoride is 10:1-3:1.
12 . The composition according to claim 1 , wherein the molar ratio between the one or more tannins and the fluoride is 15:1-3:1.
