Hemostatic device and hemostatic method
A hemostatic device can perform hemostasis by compressing a puncture site on a hand of a patient, and can prevent a movable range of fingers from being narrowed or can prevent misalignment at a wearing position, when the hemostatic device is worn on the hand. The hemostatic device has a covering portion to cover a site where bleeding is to be stopped on a hand of a patient, and a pressing portion that compresses the site where bleeding is to be stopped, in a state where the covering portion covers the site where bleeding is to be stopped. The covering portion includes a securing portion that surrounds at least a portion of the hand while covering the pressing portion, and a restriction portion that restricts a movement of the securing portion in an axial direction. The restriction portion is disposed between adjacent fingers and of the hand.
1 . A method of performing hemostasis on a puncture site of a hand of a patient, the method comprising:
positioning a hemostatic device relative to the puncture site where bleeding is to be stopped so that a covering portion of the hemostatic device covers the puncture site on the hand of the patient where bleeding is to be stopped, the covering portion including a securing portion and a restriction portion, the securing portion being comprised of a band portion possessing opposite ends and a holding portion, the restriction portion possessing one end fixed relative to the band portion and projecting away from the band portion toward a free end of the restriction portion, the hemostatic device also comprising a pressing portion and a marker portion for aligning the pressing portion with the puncture site where bleeding is to be stopped;
the positioning of the hemostatic device relative to the puncture site where bleeding is to be stopped comprising positioning the pressing portion to overlie the puncture site on the hand of the patient where bleeding is to be stopped, the positioning of the pressing portion to overlie the puncture site being performed by using the marker portion to position the pressing portion relative to the puncture site where bleeding is to be stopped;
securing the covering portion to the hand of the patient by: i) wrapping the band portion of the securing portion around at least a portion of a periphery of the hand of the patient while the band portion covers the pressing portion; ii) securing the band portion in a state in which the band portion is wrapped around at least the portion of the periphery of the hand of the patient by releasably engaging the holding portion of the band portion; iii) positioning a part of the restriction portion between a thumb and forefinger on the hand of the patient; and iv) releasably fastening a portion of the restricting portion to the band portion to restrict movement of the expandable pressing portion in an axial direction; and
applying a compressing force to the puncture site of the hand of the patient by way of the pressing portion.
2 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein the band portion and the restriction portion each possess a width, the width of the band portion being greater than the width of the restriction portion.
3 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein the puncture site is on a dorsal side of the hand and positioned so that at least one of a center line of the thumb of the patient or a center line of the forefinger of the patient intersects the puncture site.
4 . The method according to claim 1 , further comprising positioning the pressing portion so that the pressing portion is on a root side of the thumb of the patient from an end portion of the restriction portion which is secured to the band portion.
5 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein the positioning of the part of the restriction portion of the covering portion between thumb of the hand of the patient and the forefinger of the hand of the patient occurs before the removing of the medical elongated body from the puncture site.
6 . A method of performing hemostasis on a puncture site of a hand of a patient, the hand of the patient including a thumb and a plurality of fingers, the plurality of fingers including a forefinger adjacent the thumb, the method comprising:
positioning a pressing portion in overlying relation to the puncture site on the hand of the patient where bleeding is to be stopped, the pressing portion being fixed to a covering material, the covering material including one portion that overlies the pressing portion so that the pressing portion is positioned between the one portion of the covering material and the hand of the patient, the covering material also including an other portion that is fixed to the one portion of the covering material so that the one portion of the covering material and the other portion of the covering material are integrally formed in one piece, the other portion of the covering material passing between the thumb and the forefinger of the hand of the patient;
applying a compression force to the puncture site of the hand of the patient by way of the pressing portion; and
continuing to apply the compression force to the puncture site of the hand of the patient by way of the pressing portion to stop the bleeding at the puncture site.
7 . The method according to claim 6 , wherein the applying of the compression force is performed while a medical elongated body indwells the puncture site, the method further comprising removing the medical elongated body from the puncture site while maintaining the compressing force applied to the puncture site of the hand of the patient by the pressing portion.
8 . The method according to claim 6 , wherein the covering material is in contact with a dorsal side of the hand of the patient and encircles both a portion of the thumb of the hand of the patient and a portion of the forefinger of the hand of the patient.
9 . The method according to claim 6 , wherein the applying of the compression force is performed while a medical elongated body indwells the puncture site, the puncture site being on a dorsal side of the hand of the patient at a radial artery side of a palmar artery of the hand of the patient.
10 . The method according to claim 6 , wherein the covering material includes an elongated band having one end fixed to a remainder of the covering material and an opposite free end portion that is held to the remainder of the covering material by way of male and female surface fasteners engaging one another.
11 . The method according to claim 6 , wherein the band is a first band, and the remainder of the covering material is a second band, the first band possessing a width that is smaller than a width of the second band.
12 . The method according to claim 6 , wherein the pressing portion is an inflatable member connected to a tube, the applying of the compression force to the puncture site of the hand of the patient by way of the pressing portion including introducing a fluid into the inflatable member to cause the inflatable member to expand.
13 . The method according to claim 6 , wherein the one portion of the covering material completely encircles a part of the hand of the patient.
14 . The method according to claim 6 , wherein the applying of the compression force is performed while a medical elongated body indwells the puncture site, the covering material including a through hole and the medical elongated body indwelled at the puncture site passing through the through hole.
15 . The method according to claim 6 , wherein the covering material includes a further portion encircling a wrist of the patient.
