Abstract

A sterile packaging assembly for transporting interventional devices to a robotic surgery site includes a sterile barrier having a hub support portion and configured to enclose a sterile volume; and at least a first interventional device within the sterile volume. The first interventional device includes a hub and an elongate flexible body. The hub includes at least one magnet and at least one roller configured to roll on the hub support portion of the sterile barrier.

Claims (42)

. A sterile assembly for a robotic medical procedure, comprising:

a sterile barrier having a first support surface and a second support surface oriented along a plane non-parallel to the first support surface, wherein the first support surface and the second support surface extend from a proximal end of the sterile barrier to a distal end of the sterile barrier, and are configured to separate a sterile field from a non-sterile field; and

at least a first interventional device within the sterile field, the first interventional device including a hub and an elongate flexible body, the hub including at least one magnet facing the sterile barrier and at least one surface contact between the hub and the second support surface, wherein the hub is configured to advance along the second support surface between the proximal end of the sterile barrier and the distal end of the sterile barrier.

. A sterile assembly as in claim 1 , wherein the sterile barrier is configured to reside on a support table adjacent a patient, with the second support surface within the sterile field.

. A sterile assembly as in claim 2 , wherein the second support surface is substantially horizontal when residing on the support table.

. A sterile assembly as in claim 2 , wherein the first support surface is inclined relative to a horizontal plane when residing on the support table.

. A sterile assembly as in claim 2 , wherein the sterile barrier comprises an elongate polymeric membrane having a longitudinal axis.

. A sterile assembly as in claim 1 , wherein the hub further comprises at least one fluid injection port.

. A sterile assembly as in claim 1 , wherein the hub further comprises a wireless RF transceiver.

. A sterile assembly as in claim 1 , further comprising a visual indicator on the hub, for indicating a presence of a clot.

. A sterile assembly as in claim 8 , wherein the visual indicator comprises a clot collection chamber having a transparent window.

. A sterile assembly as in claim 9 , further comprising a filter in the clot collection chamber.

. A sterile assembly as in claim 1 , further comprising a sensor for detecting a presence of a clot.

. A sterile assembly as in claim 11 , wherein the sensor comprises a pressure sensor.

. A sterile assembly as in claim 11 , wherein the sensor comprises an optical sensor.

. A sterile assembly as in claim 1 , further comprising a channel, wherein the first interventional device is contained along the channel, the channel comprising the first support surface.

. A sterile assembly as in claim 1 , wherein the first interventional device is a guide catheter.

. A sterile assembly as in claim 1 , wherein the first interventional device is an access catheter.

. A sterile assembly as in claim 1 , wherein the first interventional device is a guidewire.

. A sterile assembly as in claim 1 , wherein the first interventional device is an aspiration catheter.

. A sterile assembly as in claim 1 , comprising a supra-aortic vessel access assembly.

. A sterile assembly as in claim 19 , wherein the access assembly comprises a guidewire, an access catheter and a guide catheter.

. A sterile assembly as in claim 20 , further comprising a procedure assembly within the sterile field.

. A sterile assembly as in claim 21 , wherein the procedure assembly comprises a second guidewire and an aspiration catheter.

. A sterile assembly as in claim 1 , wherein the sterile barrier is magnetically permeable.

. A sterile assembly as in claim 1 , wherein the sterile barrier is fluid impermeable.

. A sterile assembly as in claim 1 , wherein the sterile barrier is radiofrequency permeable.

. A sterile assembly as in claim 1 , wherein the sterile barrier is impermeable to microorganisms.

. A sterile assembly as in claim 1 , wherein the sterile barrier is translucent.

. A sterile assembly as in claim 1 , wherein the sterile barrier is transparent.

. A sterile assembly as in claim 1 , wherein the second support surface has a convex curvature such that fluid is configured to flow away from the second support surface.

. A sterile assembly as in claim 29 , wherein the second support surface has a longitudinal axis and a transverse axis and the second support surface is convex in a direction in the transverse axis.

. A sterile assembly as in claim 1 , wherein the sterile barrier is contained within an outer packaging.

. A sterile assembly as in claim 1 , wherein the sterile barrier comprises a non-compliant polymer.

. A sterile assembly as in claim 32 , wherein the non-compliant polymer comprises Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) or a thermoplastic polyurethane.

. A sterile assembly as in claim 1 , wherein the sterile barrier further comprises a removable cover portion that cooperates with the second support surface to define a sterile volume.

. A sterile assembly as in claim 1 , wherein the hub is releasably coupled to the second support surface via the at least one magnet.

. A sterile assembly as in claim 1 , wherein the sterile barrier further comprises a third support surface oriented along a plane non-parallel to the second support surface, wherein the third support surface extends from the proximal end of the sterile barrier to the distal end of the sterile barrier.
