Security system for real-time interaction with a network of wearable user devices
A security system includes an emergency system to establish a connection with a plurality of wearable devices; receive a duress signal transmitted from the wearable device; generate and transmit a request signal to the wearable device configured to cause the wearable device to request confirmation from the user, receive confirmation from the user, and transmit a confirmation signal to the security system; receive the confirmation signal transmitted from the wearable device; analyze the confirmation signal to determine whether the confirmation signal confirms that the user of the wearable device is under duress; in response to confirming the user is under duress, contact security or police services and communicate at least the location of the user to the security or police services; and in response to failing to confirm the user is under duress, stand down without contacting security or police services.
1 . A security system for detecting a security incident and initiating an alarm protocol by real-time interaction with a plurality of wearable devices worn by users, the security system comprising:
a processing device;
a communication device operatively coupled with the processing device;
a memory device operatively coupled with the processing device, the memory device comprising a non-transitory computer-readable storage comprising executable instructions that when executed by the processing device, cause the processing device to:
establish an operative connection comprising at least one wireless connection with at least one of the plurality of wearable devices, wherein the at least one wearable device enters automatically an activated mode based on the wearable device entering within a predefined static geofenced area associated with an interior of a building and an exterior portion adjacent to the building, and wherein the wearable device automatically enters a deactivated mode when the wearable device exits the predefined static geofenced area associated with the interior of the building and the exterior portion adjacent to the building;
receive, via the operative connection from the at least one wearable device, a duress signal indicating that the user wearing the at least one wearable device is under duress, wherein the duress signal indicates a location of the user;
transmit, via the operative connection to the at least one wearable device, a request signal to request the user confirm the user is under duress, wherein the at least one wearable device is configured to receive the request signal, receive confirmation from the user, and transmit, via the operative connection to the security system, a confirmation signal;
receive, via the operative connection from the at least one wearable device, the confirmation signal;
determine whether the confirmation signal confirms that the user of the at least one wearable device is under duress; and
in response to confirming the user is under duress, transmit an emergency communication to emergency services, wherein the emergency communication comprises the location of the user.

The security system of claim 1 , wherein the executable instructions further cause the processing device to wirelessly pair and thereby establish the operative connection with the at least one wearable device upon entering the activated mode and disconnect from the at least one wearable device upon entering the deactivated mode.
3 . The security system of claim 2 , wherein the operative connection consists of a Bluetooth connection or a Wi-Fi connection.
4 . The security system of claim 1 , further comprising:
a plurality of security stations interconnected in an extended security network with the security system and disposed across the predefined static geofenced area associated with the interior of the building and the exterior portion adjacent to the building;
wherein the security system and each of the plurality of security stations are each configured to hand-off the operative connection with the at least one wearable device; and
wherein each of the plurality of security stations is configured to accept hand-off and transmit hand-off of the operative connection with the wearable device such that the operative connection with the wearable device is passed to different security stations in close proximity with the wearable device as the user moves around the predefined geofenced area.
5 . The security system of claim 4 , wherein the plurality of security stations are interconnected via at least one of a mesh, ring, star, extended star, hierarchical, bus, line, tree, fully connected, or daisy-chain network topology.
6 . The security system of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the duress signal and the confirmation signal comprise identification information corresponding to the user.
7 . The security system of claim 1 , wherein the emergency services comprises security associated with the security system or police services, and wherein the emergency communication comprises identification information corresponding to the user and the location of the user.
8 . The security system of claim 4 , wherein, upon receiving the duress signal, the extended security network maintains the operative connection with the wearable device to continuously determine the location of the at least one wearable device.
9 . The security system of claim 1 , wherein the security system periodically updates the emergency services of the location of the wearable device.
10 . The security system of claim 1 , wherein the security system is further configured to: receive communications from the emergency services that confirms the emergency services are in route to assist; and transmit a help-is-on-the-way signal to the at least one wearable device.
11 . The security system of claim 1 , wherein determining whether the confirmation signal confirms that the user of the at least one wearable device is under duress comprises comparing the confirmation signal to a previously stored confirmation password to determine that the confirmation signal indicates the previously stored confirmation password confirms the user is under duress.
12 . A security system for detecting a security incident and initiating an alarm protocol by real-time interaction with a plurality of wearable devices worn by users, the security system comprising:
a plurality of security stations configured to accept hand-off and transmit hand-off of an operative connection with at least one of the plurality of wearable devices such that the operative connection with the at least one wearable device is passed to different security stations in close proximity with the at least one wearable device as the user moves around a predefined static geofenced area associated with an interior of a building and an exterior portion adjacent to the building;
a processing device;
a communication device operatively coupled with the processing device;
a memory device operatively coupled with the processing device, the memory device comprising a non-transitory computer-readable storage comprising executable instructions that when executed by the processing device, cause the processing device to:
establish the operative connection comprising at least one wireless connection with at the least one wearable devices, wherein the at least one wearable device automatically enters an activated mode based on the wearable device entering within the predefined static geofenced area associated with the interior of the building and the exterior portion adjacent to the building, and wherein the wearable device automatically enters a deactivated mode when the wearable device exits the predefined static geofenced area associated with the interior of the building and the exterior portion adjacent to the building;
receive, via the operative connection from the at least one wearable device, a duress signal indicating that the user wearing the at least one wearable device is under duress, wherein the duress signal indicates a location of the user;
transmit, via the operative connection to the at least one wearable device, a request for the user to confirm the user is under duress, wherein the at least one wearable device is configured to receive the request signal, receive confirmation from the user, and transmit, via the operative connection to the security system, a confirmation signal;
receive, via the operative connection from the at least one wearable device, the confirmation signal;
determine whether the confirmation signal confirms that the user of the at least one wearable device is under duress; and
in response to confirming the user is under duress, transmit an emergency communication to emergency services, wherein the emergency communication comprises the location of the user.
13 . The security system of claim 12 , wherein the plurality of security stations are interconnected in an extended network comprising at least one of a mesh, ring, star, extended star, hierarchical, bus, line, tree, fully connected, or daisy-chain network topology.
14 . The security system of claim 12 , wherein the duress signal and the confirmation signal comprise identification information corresponding to the user.
15 . The security system of claim 12 , wherein the emergency services comprises security associated with the security system or police services, and wherein emergency communication comprises identification information corresponding to the user and the location of the user.
16 . The security system of claim 13 , wherein, upon receiving the duress signal, the extended network maintains the operative connection with the at least one wearable device to continuously determine the location of the wearable device.
17 . The security system of claim 12 , wherein the security system periodically updates the emergency services of the location of the wearable device.
18 . The security system of claim 12 , wherein the security system is further configured to: receive communications from the emergency services that confirms the emergency services are in route to assist; and transmit a help-is-on-the-way signal to the at least one wearable device.
19 . The security system of claim 12 , wherein determining whether the confirmation signal confirms that the user of the at least one wearable device is under duress comprises comparing the confirmation signal to a previously stored confirmation password to determine that the confirmation signal indicates the previously stored confirmation password confirms the user is under duress.
20 . A method for alerting an emergency system when a user wearing a wearable device is under duress, the method comprising:
establish an operative connection comprising at least one wireless connection with at least one of a plurality of wearable devices, wherein the at least one wearable device automatically enters an activated mode based on the wearable device entering within a predefined static geofenced area associated with an interior of a building and an exterior portion adjacent to the building, and wherein the wearable device automatically enters a deactivated mode when the wearable device exits the predefined static geofenced area associated with the interior of the building and the exterior portion adjacent to the building;
handing-off the operative connection with the at least one wearable device among a plurality of security stations in an extended network of security stations associated with the predefined static geofenced area associated with the interior of the building and the exterior portion adjacent to the building, such that the operative connection with the wearable device is passed to different security stations in close proximity with the wearable device as the user moves around the predefined static geofenced area;
receiving, via the operative connection from the at least one wearable device, a duress signal indicating that the user wearing the at least one wearable device is under duress, wherein the duress signal indicates a location of the user;
transmitting, via the operative connection to the at least one wearable device, a request signal to request the user confirm the user is under duress, wherein the at least one wearable device is configured to receive the request signal receive confirmation from the user, and transmit, via the operative connection to the emergency system, a confirmation signal;
receiving, via the operative connection from the at least one wearable device, the confirmation signal;
determining whether the confirmation signal confirms that the user of the at least one wearable device is under duress; and
in response to confirming the user is under duress, transmitting an emergency communication to emergency services, wherein the emergency communication comprises the location of the user.
21 . The method of claim 20 , wherein determining whether the confirmation signal confirms that the user of the at least one wearable device is under duress comprises comparing the confirmation signal to a previously stored confirmation password to determine that the confirmation signal indicates the previously stored confirmation password confirms the user is under duress.
22 . The method of claim 20 , wherein the emergency services comprises security associated with the security system or police services, and wherein the emergency communication comprises identification information corresponding to the user and the location of the user.
