Abstract

A third-party user input content item is presented on a user device of a user. Third-party authorization for the third-party user input content item to be combined with other content items is determined. Responsive to determining the third-party authorization, a combination graphical element is automatically presented on the user device. The combination graphical element is user-selectable to invoke a combination function. Responsive to determining a user selection of the combination graphical element, the combination function is invoked, enabling the user to combine the third-party user input content item with another content item to create a combined user input content item.

Claims (56)

1 . A method to facilitate combination of content items, the method comprising:

receiving, via a communication application executing on a user device of a user, a third-party user input content item from a third-party user device;

causing presentation, via a user interface of the communication application, of the third-party user input content item on the user device of the user;

determining a third-party authorization for the third-party user input content item to be combined with other content items to create a combined user input content item;

responsive to determining the third-party authorization, automatically causing presentation on the user device, via the user interface of the communication application, of a combination graphical element, the combination graphical element being user-selectable to invoke a combination function;

determining user selection of the combination graphical element;

responsive to the determining of the user selection of the combination graphical element, invoking the combination function, the combination function enabling the user to combine the third-party user input content item with another content item to create the combined user input content item,

responsive to invoking the combination function, enabling a camera function of a camera of the user device and causing concurrent presentation, within a combination interface presented by the communication application, of a live camera feed from the camera and the third-party user input content item;

causing presentation, within the combination interface, of a set of layout graphical elements, each layout graphical element being user-selectable to apply a different predefined layout template specifying a layout relationship between the third-party user input content item and camera-captured content;

detecting a user selection of a layout graphical element from the set of layout graphical elements;

applying the predefined layout template corresponding to the selected layout graphical element to arrange the third-party user input content item relative to the live camera feed in the combination interface prior to capture;

receiving a user capture input while the live camera feed is displayed in the combination interface and responsive to the user capture input, capturing a second user input content item from the live camera feed;

generating the combined user input content item by combining the second user input content item with the third-party user input content item in accordance with the applied predefined layout template; and

transmitting, via the communication application, the combined user input content item from the user device to the third-party user device.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the determining third-party authorization for the third-party user input content item to be combined comprises determining a user setting related to the third-party user input content item indicating the third-party authorization.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the third-party user input content item is part of a set of third-party user input content items created by a third-party user of a media application, and the presentation of the third-party user input content item is part of a sequential presentation of the set of third-party user input content items.

4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein automatically causing the presentation on the user device of the combination graphical element comprises causing presentation of the combination graphical element without user action on a user interface.

5 . The method of claim 1 , comprising causing display of a tooltip in conjunction with the combination graphical element.

6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the combination graphical element comprises a camera indicium that is caused to be displayed in conjunction with the third-party user input content item on a user interface of a media application.

7 . The method of claim 6 , wherein the combination graphical element comprises the camera indicium and a graphical component that identifies the combination function.

8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the combination function includes a reply function to enable the user to transmit the combined user input content item to a third-party user of a media application by way of reply to a transmission of the third-party user input content item.

9 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the reply to the transmission of the third-party user input content item comprises transmitting the combined user input content item in a private conversation between the user and the third-party user via the media application.

10 . The method of claim 1 , wherein invoking the combination function comprises activating and opening a modular reply camera interface.

11 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the modular reply camera interface comprises an augmentation carousel.

12 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the augmentation carousel comprises a combination application element.

13 . The method of claim 12 , wherein invoking the combination function comprises preselecting the combination application element in the modular reply camera interface.

14 . A computing apparatus comprising:

a processor; and

a memory storing instructions that, when executed by the processor, configure the apparatus to perform operations comprising:

receiving, via a communication application executing on a user device of a user, a third-party user input content item from a third-party user device;

causing presentation, via a user interface of the communication application, of the third-party user input content item on the user device of the user;

determining a third-party authorization for the third-party user input content item to be combined with other content items to create a combined user input content item;

responsive to determining the third-party authorization, automatically causing presentation on the user device, via the user interface of the communication application, of a combination graphical element, the combination graphical element being user-selectable to invoke a combination function;

determining user selection of the combination graphical element;

responsive to the determining of the user selection of the combination graphical element, invoking the combination function, the combination function enabling the user to combine the third-party user input content item with another content item to create the combined user input content item,

responsive to invoking the combination function, enabling a camera function of a camera of the user device and causing concurrent presentation, within a combination interface presented by the communication application, of a live camera feed from the camera and the third-party user input content item;

causing presentation, within the combination interface, of a set of layout graphical elements, each layout graphical element being user-selectable to apply a different predefined layout template specifying a layout relationship between the third-party user input content item and camera-captured content;

detecting a user selection of a layout graphical element from the set of layout graphical elements;

applying the predefined layout template corresponding to the selected layout graphical element to arrange the third-party user input content item relative to the live camera feed in the combination interface prior to capture;

receiving a user capture input while the live camera feed is displayed in the combination interface and responsive to the user capture input, capturing a second user input content item from the live camera feed;

generating the combined user input content item by combining the second user input content item with the third-party user input content item in accordance with the applied predefined layout template; and
