Abstract

An apparatus for real time monitoring of a patient is provided and includes a memory element for storing data, a processor that executes instructions associated with the data, an interface that receives sensor data from a sensor that takes measurements from the patient and sends the sensor data according to the sensor's measurement latency, a latency calculator that frequently calculates a latency threshold that varies according to at least a health status of the patient, a timer that continuously monitors the sensor's measurement latency, a comparator that frequently compares the sensor's measurement latency with the calculated latency threshold, and a feedback module that automatically changes the sensor's measurement latency to match with the calculated latency threshold.

Claims (21)

1 . A computer-implemented method for contextually adapting conditions for achieving real-time health monitoring of a person, comprising:

under control of one or more hardware computer processors associated with one or more sensors attached to the person:

accessing sensor data originating from the one or more sensors at periodic intervals according to a measurement latency;

determining a health condition of the person from the sensor data; and

generating instructions to change the measurement latency of the one or more sensors based on at least the health condition of the person to change the periodic intervals to improve contextual real-time monitoring of the person.

2 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising transmitting the sensor data to a remote computing device over a wireless communication channel.

3 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the one or more sensors includes a first sensor and a second sensor, wherein generating the instructions includes generating first instructions to change a first measurement latency of the first sensor based on sensor data from the second sensor.

4 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising generating the instructions based on a time required to process the sensor data.

5 . The computer-implemented method of claim 4 , wherein processing the sensor data includes processing the sensor data into transmittable sensor data.

6 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising generating the instructions based on a time between generating the sensor data and transmitting the sensor data.

7 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising generating the instructions based on a network latency of a communication channel over which the sensor data is transmitted.

8 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising generating the instructions based on user input.

9 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising generating the instructions based on a location of the person.

10 . Non-transitory computer-readable media including computer-executable instructions that, when executed by a computing system, cause the computing system to perform operations comprising:

accessing sensor data originating from one or more sensors coupled to a person at periodic intervals according to a measurement latency;

determining a health condition of the person from the sensor data; and

generating instructions to change the measurement latency of the one or more sensors based on at least the health condition of the person to change the periodic intervals to improve contextual real-time monitoring of the person.

11 . The non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 10 , wherein the computer-executable instructions, when executed by the computing system, cause the computing system to perform operations comprising wirelessly transmitting the sensor data to a remote computing device.

12 . The non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 10 , wherein the computer-executable instructions, when executed by the computing system, cause the computing system to perform operations comprising generating the instructions based on a time required to process the sensor data.

13 . The non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 10 , wherein the computer-executable instructions, when executed by the computing system, cause the computing system to perform operations comprising generating the instructions based on a time between generating the sensor data and transmitting the sensor data.

14 . The non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 10 , wherein the computer-executable instructions, when executed by the computing system, cause the computing system to perform operations comprising generating the instructions based on a network latency associated with transmitting the sensor data.
