Abstract

A method for sharing data in a transmitting-side electronic device communicating with a receiving-side electronic device is provided. The method includes connecting a voice call with the receiving-side electronic device; obtaining a sharing object to be shared with the receiving-side electronic device; and transmitting data corresponding to the sharing object to the receiving-side electronic device through a data session formed based on information related to the voice call.

Claims (76)

1 . A method performed by an electronic device for sharing data with another electronic device through a sharing platform, the method comprising:

connecting a call with the another electronic device using a call application;

receiving a user input to select multimedia content to share during the call;

transmitting, to an external server, information about the multimedia content to share the multimedia content with the another electronic device;

receiving information for locating the multimedia content stored in the external server, from the external server, the information for locating the multimedia content being based on the information about the multimedia content;

transmitting the information for locating the multimedia content to the another electronic device such that the another electronic device requests the multimedia content, during the call, using the information for locating the multimedia content; and

playing the multimedia content synchronously with the another electronic device which requests and receives the multimedia content from the external server by using the information for locating the multimedia content.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the information for locating the multimedia content is a network address of the multimedia content stored in the external server.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the playing the multimedia content synchronously comprises:

receiving, during the call, a playback control command for the multimedia content from the another electronic device during the playing of the multimedia content; and

controlling, during the call, the playing of the multimedia content based on the playback control command received from the another electronic device.

4 . The method of claim 3 , wherein the controlling of the playing of the multimedia content comprises starting or stopping playback of the multimedia content, and

wherein the receiving of the user input, the transmitting of the information about the multimedia content, the receiving of the information for locating the multimedia content, the transmitting of the information for locating the multimedia content, and the playing of the multimedia content synchronously are sequentially performed during the call.

5 . The method of claim 3 , wherein the playback control command is defined within the sharing platform to be compatible with applications which play the multimedia content on the electronic device and the another electronic device.

6 . A method performed by an electronic device for sharing data with another electronic device through a sharing platform, the method comprising:

connecting a call with the another electronic device using a call application;

receiving information for locating multimedia content stored in an external server from the another electronic device, the information being based on information about the multimedia content, wherein the information about the multimedia content is transmitted from the another electronic device to the external server;

transmitting a request for sharing the multimedia content to the external server by using the information for locating the multimedia content during the call;

receiving the multimedia content from the external server streaming the multimedia content during the call, in response to the request; and

playing the multimedia content synchronously with the another electronic device.

7 . The method of claim 6 , wherein the playing the multimedia content synchronously comprises:

based on a user input to control the playing of the multimedia content being received through a user interface, transmitting, during the call, a playback control command corresponding to the user input to the another electronic device.

8 . The method of claim 7 , wherein the playback control command is a command for starting or stopping playback of the multimedia content.

9 . The method of claim 7 , wherein the playback control command is defined within the sharing platform to be compatible with applications which play the multimedia content on the electronic device and the another electronic device.

10 . An electronic device comprising:

a display;

a communication interface;

at least one processor; and

memory storing instructions which, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the electronic device to:

connect a call with another electronic device using a call application,

receive, through a user interface displayed on the display, a user input to select multimedia content to share during the call,

transmit, to an external server through the communication interface, information about the multimedia content to share the multimedia content with the another electronic device;

receive information for locating the multimedia content stored in the external server, from the external server, the information for locating the multimedia content being based on the information about the multimedia content,

transmit the information for locating the multimedia content to the another electronic device such that the another electronic device requests the multimedia content, during the call, using the information for locating the multimedia content, and

play the multimedia content synchronously, through a sharing platform, with the another electronic device which requests and receives the multimedia content from the external server by using the information for locating the multimedia content.

11 . The electronic device of claim 10 , wherein the at least one processor is further configured to:

receive, during the call, through the communication interface, a playback control command for the multimedia content from the another electronic device during the playing of the multimedia content, and

control, during the call, the playing of the multimedia content based on the playback control command received from the another electronic device.

12 . The electronic device of claim 11 , wherein the playback control command comprises a command for starting or stopping playback of the multimedia content.

13 . The electronic device of claim 11 , wherein the playback control command is defined within the sharing platform to be compatible with applications which play the multimedia content on the electronic device and the another electronic device.

14 . An electronic device comprising:

a display;

a communication interface;

at least one processor; and

memory storing instructions which, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the electronic device to:

connect a call with another electronic device using a call application,

receive information for locating multimedia content stored in an external server from the another electronic device, the information being based on information about the multimedia content, wherein the information about the multimedia content is transmitted from the another electronic device to the external server;

transmit a request for sharing the multimedia content to the external server by using the information for locating the multimedia content during the call,

receive, through the communication interface, the multimedia content from the external server streaming the multimedia content during the call, in response to the request, and

play the multimedia content synchronously with the another electronic device through a sharing platform.

15 . The electronic device of claim 14 , wherein the at least one processor is further configured to:

based on a user input to control the playing of the multimedia content being received through a user interface displayed on the display, transmit, during the call, a playback control command corresponding to the user input to the another electronic device through the communication interface.

16 . The electronic device of claim 15 , wherein the playback control command comprises a command for starting or stopping playback of the multimedia content.

17 . The electronic device of claim 15 , wherein the playback control command is defined within the sharing platform to be compatible with applications which play the multimedia content on the electronic device and the another electronic device.

18 . A non-transitory computer-readable recording medium having recorded thereon instructions which, when executed by at least one processor of an electronic device, cause the electronic device to perform operations comprising:

connecting a call with another electronic device using a call application;

receiving a user input to select multimedia content to share during the call;

transmitting, to an external server, information about the multimedia content to share the multimedia content with the another electronic device;

receiving information for locating the multimedia content stored in the external server, from the external server, the information for locating the multimedia content being based on the information about the multimedia content;

transmitting the information for locating the multimedia content to the another electronic device such that the another electronic device requests the multimedia content, during the call, using the information for locating the multimedia content; and

playing the multimedia content synchronously, through a sharing platform, with the another electronic device which requests and receives the multimedia content from the external server by using the information for locating the multimedia content.

19 . The non-transitory computer-readable recording medium of claim 13 , wherein the playing the multimedia content synchronously comprises:

receiving, during the call, a playback control command for the multimedia content from the another electronic device during the playing of the multimedia content; and

controlling, during the call, the playing of the multimedia content based on the playback control command received from the another electronic device.

20 . The non-transitory computer-readable recording medium of claim 19 , wherein the controlling of the playing of the multimedia content comprises starting or stopping playback of the multimedia content.

21 . The non-transitory computer-readable recording medium of claim 19 , wherein the playback control command is defined within the sharing platform to be compatible with applications which play the multimedia content on the electronic device and the another electronic device.

22 . A non-transitory computer-readable recording medium having recorded thereon instructions which, when executed by at least one processor of an electronic device, cause the electronic device to perform operations comprising:

connecting a call with another electronic device using a call application;

receiving information for locating multimedia content stored in an external server from the another electronic device, the information being based on information about the multimedia content, wherein the information about the multimedia content is transmitted from the another electronic device to the external server;

transmitting a request for sharing the multimedia content to the external server by using the information for locating the multimedia content during the call;

receiving the multimedia content from the external server streaming the multimedia content during the call, in response to the request; and

playing the multimedia content synchronously with the another electronic device through a sharing platform.

23 . The non-transitory computer-readable recording medium of claim 22 , wherein the playing the multimedia content synchronously comprises:

based on a user input to control the playing of the multimedia content being received through a user interface, transmitting, during the call, a playback control command corresponding to the user input to the another electronic device.

24 . The non-transitory computer-readable recording medium of claim 23 , wherein the playback control command comprises a command for starting or stopping playback of the multimedia content.

25 . The non-transitory computer-readable recording medium of claim 23 , wherein the playback control command is defined within the sharing platform to be compatible with applications which play the multimedia content on the electronic device and the another electronic device.
