Abstract

The disclosure relates to a communication technique that merges IoT technology with a 5G communication system for supporting higher data transmission rates than 4G systems, and a system therefor. The disclosure may be applied to intelligent services (for example, smart homes, smart buildings, smart cities, smart cars or connected cars, healthcare, digital education, retail business, security and safety-related services, etc.) on the basis of 5G communication technology and IoT-related technology. In addition, the disclosure provides a method and device for reducing the power consumption of a UE in a wireless communication system.

Claims (47)

1 . A method for a user equipment (UE) to control power in a wireless communication system, the method comprising:

receiving, from a base station, discontinuous reception (DRX) configuration information including first DRX group configuration information of a first DRX group and second DRX group configuration information of a second DRX group, wherein the first DRX group corresponds to a first cell group and the second DRX group corresponds to a second cell group;

receiving, from the base station, power saving signal (POSS) configuration information including configuration information of a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) for a POSS;

identifying whether a time domain of active time determined based on the DRX configuration information and the POSS configuration information overlaps a monitoring occasion for the PDCCH determined based on the POSS configuration information and the monitoring occasion for the PDCCH is associated with the first DRX group; and

determining whether the UE monitors the PDCCH for the POSS in the monitoring occasion based on the identified result,

wherein the UE does not monitor the PDCCH in the monitoring occasion for the POSS for any cell included in the first DRX group, in case that the monitoring occasion for the first DRX group overlaps the active time, and

wherein the active time is time for the UE to monitor the PDCCH in any cell included in the first DRX group or the second DRX group.

2 . The method of claim 1 ,

wherein the UE monitors the PDCCH for the POSS in the monitoring occasion for any cell included in the first DRX group in case that the monitoring occasion for the first DRX group does not overlap the active time.

The method of claim 1 , wherein the first DRX group configuration information and the second DRX group configuration information include DRX cycle information on a cycle in which the UE monitors the PDCCH, or information on a value of a DRX timer including at least one of drx-onDurationTimer, drx-InactivityTimer, drx-RetransmissionTimerDL, drx-RetransmissionTimerUL, or ra-ContinenceResolutionTime, and

wherein the first DRX group is a group including a primary cell (pcell), and the second DRX group is a group that does not include the primary cell.

The method of claim 2 , wherein the preset operation is one of maintaining the same value of the DRX timer, starting drx-onDurationTimer, or not starting drx-onDurationTimer with respect to the active time of the first DRX group or the second DRX group that arrives after the monitoring occasion.

5 . A method for a base station to control power of a user equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system, the method comprising:

transmitting, to the UE, discontinuous reception (DRX) configuration information including first DRX group configuration information of a first DRX group and second DRX group configuration information of a second DRX group, wherein the first DRX group corresponds to a first cell group and the second DRX group corresponds to a second cell group;

transmitting, to the UE, power saving signal (POSS) configuration information including configuration information of a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) for a POSS;

identifying whether a time domain of active time determined based on the DRX configuration information and the POSS configuration information overlaps a monitoring occasion for the PDCCH determined based on the POSS configuration information and the monitoring occasion for the PDCCH is associated with the first DRX group; and

determining whether to transmit the PDCCH to the UE in the time domain in which the time domain of the active time overlaps the monitoring occasion based on the identified result, wherein the PDCCH is not transmitted in the monitoring occasion, in case that the monitoring occasion overlaps the active time,

wherein the active time is time for a UE to monitor the PDCCH in any cell included in the first DRX group or the second DRX group.

6 . The method of claim 5 ,

wherein the PDCCH is transmitted in the monitoring occasion, in case that the monitoring occasion for the first DRX group does not overlap the active time.

The method of claim 5 , wherein the first DRX group configuration information and second DRX group configuration information include DRX cycle information on a cycle in which the UE monitors the PDCCH, or information on a value of a DRX timer including at least one of drx-onDurationTimer, drx-InactivityTimer, drx-RetransmissionTimerDL, drx-RetransmissionTimerUL, or ra-ContinenceResolutionTime, and

wherein the first DRX group is a group including a primary cell (pcell), and the second DRX group is a group that does not include the primary cell.

8 . A user equipment (UE) for controlling power in a wireless communication system, the UE comprising:

a transceiver; and

a controller configured to:

receive, from the base station, discontinuous reception (DRX) configuration information including first DRX group configuration information of a first DRX group and second DRX group configuration information of a second DRX group, wherein the first DRX group corresponds to a first cell group and the second DRX group corresponds to a second cell group,

receive, from the base station, power saving signal (POSS) configuration information including configuration information of a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) for a POSS,

identify whether a time domain of active time determined based on the DRX configuration information and the POSS configuration information overlaps a monitoring occasion for the PDCCH determined based on the POSS configuration information and the monitoring occasion for the PDCCH is associated with the first DRX group, and

control the UE to determine whether the UE monitors the PDCCH for the POSS in the monitoring occasion based on the identified result, wherein the UE does not monitor the PDCCH in the monitoring occasion for any cell included in the first DRX group, in case that the monitoring occasion for the first DRX group overlaps the active time,

wherein the active time is time for the UE to monitor the PDCCH in any cell included in the first DRX group or the second DRX group.

9 . The UE of claim 8 , wherein the controller is configured to:

control the UE to monitor the PDCCH for the POSS in the monitoring occasion in case that the monitoring occasion for the first DRX group does not overlap with the active time.

The UE of claim 8 , wherein the first DRX group configuration information and second DRX group configuration information include DRX cycle information on a cycle in which the UE monitors the PDCCH, or information on a value of a DRX timer including at least one of drx-onDurationTimer, drx-InactivityTimer, drx-RetransmissionTimerDL, drx-RetransmissionTimerUL, or ra-ContinenceResolutionTime, and

wherein the first DRX group is a group including a primary cell (pcell), and the second DRX group is a group that does not include the primary cell.

11 . The UE of claim 9 , wherein the preset operation is one of maintaining the same value of the DRX timer, starting drx-onDurationTimer, or not starting drx-onDurationTimer with respect to the active time of the first DRX group or the second DRX group that arrives after the monitoring occasion.

12 . A base station in a wireless communication system, the base station comprising:

a transceiver; and

a controller configured to:

perform controlling to transmit, to a user equipment (UE), discontinuous reception (DRX) configuration information including first DRX group configuration information of a first DRX group and second DRX group configuration information of a second DRX group, wherein the first DRX group corresponds to a first cell group and the second DRX group corresponds to a second cell group,

transmit, to the UE, power saving signal (POSS) configuration information including configuration information of a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) on a POSS,

identify whether a time domain of active time determined based on the DRX configuration information and the POSS configuration information overlaps a monitoring occasion for the PDCCH determined based on the POSS configuration information and the monitoring occasion for the PDCCH is associated with the first DRX group, and

determine whether to transmit the PDCCH to the UE in the time domain in which the time domain of the active time and the monitoring occasion overlap based on the identified result, wherein the base station does not transmit the PDCCH in the monitoring occasion in case that the monitoring occasion overlaps the active time,

wherein the active time is time for a UE to monitor the PDCCH in any cell included in the first DRX group or the second DRX group.

13 . The base station of claim 12 , wherein the controller is configured to perform controlling:

to transmit the PDCCH in the monitoring occasion in case that the monitoring occasion for the first DRX group does not overlap the active time.

The base station of claim 12 , wherein the first DRX group configuration information and second DRX group configuration information include DRX cycle information on a cycle in which the UE monitors the PDCCH, or information on a value of a DRX timer including at least one of drx-onDurationTimer, drx-InactivityTimer, drx-RetransmissionTimerDL, drx-RetransmissionTimerUL, or ra-ContinenceResolutionTime, and

wherein the first DRX group is a group including a primary cell (pcell) and the second DRX group is a group that does not include the primary cell.
