User equipment selection of candidate and selected cells
Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may select, from a set of one or more neighbor cells, a set of one or more candidate cells for an inter-cell mobility operation; determine, from the set of one or more candidate cells, a set of one or more selected cells for the inter-cell mobility operation; add the set of one or more selected cells to a cell group of the UE; and transmit, to a base station, at least one of: the set of one or more candidate cells, or the set of one or more selected cells. Numerous other aspects are provided.
1 . A method of wireless communication performed by a user equipment (UE), comprising:
receiving first information indicating one or more cell quality metric thresholds;
selecting, from a set of one or more candidate cells, one or more selected cells having one or more cell quality metrics that satisfy the one or more cell quality metric thresholds,
wherein the one or more cell quality metrics include a reference signal received power (RSRP), and
wherein the one or more cell quality metrics are associated with a set of strongest synchronization signal blocks (SSBs) of the one or more selected cells;
adding the one or more selected cells to a cell group of the UE, wherein the cell group is a primary cell group or a secondary cell group of a carrier aggregation configuration;
transmitting, using random access channel (RACH) signaling, second information identifying the one or more selected cells and corresponding RSRPs to a selected cell of the one or more selected cells; and
receiving, based at least in part on transmitting the second information, information indicating an updated set of one or more selected cells.
2 . The method of claim 1 ,
wherein the second information further identifies one or more other cell quality metrics corresponding to the set of one or more candidate cells.
3 . The method of claim 2 ,
wherein the one or more other cell quality metrics include at least one of:
a reference signal received quality (RSRQ), or
a signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR).
4 . The method of claim 1 ,
wherein the one or more cell quality metrics further include at least one of:
a reference signal received quality (RSRQ), or
a signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR).
5 . The method of claim 1 ,
wherein the first information is received via radio resource control (RRC) signaling, a medium access control control element (MAC-CE), or downlink control information (DCI).
6 . The method of claim 1 ,
wherein the second information is transmitted to a network entity using radio resource control (RRC) signaling, a medium access control control element (MAC-CE), or uplink control information (UCI).
7 . The method of claim 1 ,
wherein the second information is transmitted using a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) or a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH).
8 . The method of claim 1 ,
wherein the second information is transmitted in response to a triggering event.
9 . A method of wireless communication performed by a network entity, comprising:
transmitting, to a user equipment (UE), first information indicating one or more cell quality metric thresholds;
receiving, from the UE, second information identifying a set of one or more selected cells and corresponding reference signal received power (RSRP) metrics,
wherein the set of one or more selected cells includes one or more candidate cells having one or more cell quality metrics that satisfy the one or more cell quality metric thresholds,
wherein the one or more cell quality metrics include RSRP, and
wherein the one or more cell quality metrics are associated with a set of strongest synchronization signal blocks (SSBs) of the one or more selected cells, and
wherein the set of one or more selected cells correspond to a cell group of the UE, wherein the cell group is a primary cell group or a secondary cell group of a carrier aggregation configuration; and
transmitting, to the UE and based at least in part on receiving the second information, information indicating an updated set of one or more selected cells.
10 . The method of claim 9 ,
wherein the second information further identifies one or more other cell quality metrics corresponding to the set of one or more candidate cells.
11 . The method of claim 10 ,
wherein the one or more other cell quality metrics include at least one of:
a reference signal received quality (RSRQ), or
a signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR).
12 . The method of claim 9 ,
wherein the one or more cell quality metrics further include at least one of:
a reference signal received quality (RSRQ), or
a signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR).
13 . The method of claim 9 ,
wherein the first information is transmitted using radio resource control (RRC) signaling, a medium access control control element (MAC-CE), or downlink control information (DCI).
14 . The method of claim 9 ,
wherein the second information is received via radio resource control (RRC) signaling, a medium access control control element (MAC-CE), or uplink control information (UCI).
15 . The method of claim 9 ,
wherein the second information is received in a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) or a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH).
16 . The method of claim 9 ,

17 . A user equipment (UE) for wireless communication, comprising:
one or more memories; and
one or more processors, coupled to the one or more memories, configured to cause the UE to:
receive first information indicating one or more cell quality metric thresholds;
select, from a set of one or more candidate cells, one or more selected cells having one or more cell quality metrics that satisfy the one or more cell quality metric thresholds,
wherein the one or more cell quality metrics include a reference signal received power (RSRP), and
wherein the one or more cell quality metrics are associated with a set of strongest synchronization signal blocks (SSBs) of the one or more selected cells;
add the one or more selected cells to a cell group of the UE, wherein the cell group is a primary cell group or a secondary cell group of a carrier aggregation configuration;
transmit, using random access channel (RACH) signaling, second information identifying the one or more selected cells and corresponding RSRPs to a selected cell of the one or more selected cells; and
receive, based at least in part on transmitting the second information, information indicating an updated set of one or more selected cells.
18 . The UE of claim 17 ,
wherein the second information further identifies one or more other cell quality metrics corresponding to the set of one or more candidate cells.
19 . The UE of claim 18 ,
wherein the one or more other cell quality metrics include at least one of:
a reference signal received quality (RSRQ), or
a signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR).
20 . The UE of claim 17 ,
wherein the one or more cell quality metrics further include at least one of:
a reference signal received quality (RSRQ), or a signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR).
21 . The UE of claim 17 ,
wherein the one or more processors, to receive the first information, are configured to cause the UE to:
receive the first information is received via radio resource control (RRC) signaling, a medium access control control element (MAC-CE), or downlink control information (DCI).
22 . The UE of claim 17 ,
wherein the one or more processors, to transmit the second information, are configured to cause the UE to:
transmit the second information to a network node using radio resource control (RRC) signaling, a medium access control control element (MAC-CE), or uplink control information (UCI).

wherein the one or more processors, to transmit the second information, are configured to cause the UE to:
transmit the second information using a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) or a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH).

wherein the one or more processors, to transmit the second information, are configured to cause the UE to:
transmit the second information in response to a triggering event.
25 . A network entity for wireless communication, comprising:
one or more memories; and
one or more processors, coupled to the one or more memories, configured to cause the network entity to:
transmit, to a user equipment (UE), first information indicating one or more cell quality metric thresholds;
receive, from the UE, second information identifying a set of one or more selected cells and corresponding reference signal received power (RSRP) metrics,
wherein the set of one or more selected cells includes one or more candidate cells having one or more cell quality metrics that satisfy the one or more cell quality metric thresholds,
wherein the one or more cell quality metrics include RSRP,
wherein the one or more cell quality metrics are associated with a set of strongest synchronization signal blocks (SSBs) of the one or more selected cells, and
wherein the set of one or more selected cells correspond to a cell group of the UE,
wherein the cell group is a primary cell group or a secondary cell group of a carrier aggregation configuration; and
transmit, to the UE and based at least in part on receiving the second information, information indicating an updated set of one or more selected cells.
26 . The network entity of claim 25 ,
wherein the second information further identifies one or more other cell quality metrics corresponding to the set of one or more candidate cells.
27 . The network entity of claim 20 ,
wherein the one or more other cell quality metrics include at least one of:
a reference signal received quality (RSRQ), or
a signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR).
28 . The network entity of claim 25 ,
wherein the one or more cell quality metrics further include at least one of:
a reference signal received quality (RSRQ), or
a signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR).
29 . The network entity of claim 25 ,
wherein the one or more processors, to transmit the first information, are configured to cause the network entity to:
transmit the first information using radio resource control (RRC) signaling, a medium access control control element (MAC-CE), or downlink control information (DCI).
30 . The network entity of claim 25 ,
wherein the one or more processors, to receive the second information, are configured to cause the network entity to:
receive the second information via radio resource control (RRC) signaling, a medium access control control element (MAC-CE), or uplink control information (UCI).
