Abstract

A display device including: a substrate including a display area for displaying an image and a non-display area positioned at a periphery of the display area; a plurality of pixels positioned at the display area; a plurality of data lines connected with the plurality of pixels; and a crack detecting line positioned at the non-display area, wherein the crack detecting line includes: a plurality of unit connectors extending in a first direction, wherein the first direction is parallel to an extending direction of a side of the substrate nearest to the unit connectors; and a plurality of wiring portion units connected to each other through the plurality of unit connectors, wherein the number of wiring portion units is an even number.

Claims (52)

1 . A display device comprising:

a substrate comprising a display area for displaying an image and a non-display area positioned at a peripheral region of the display area;

a plurality of pixels positioned at the display area of the substrate;

a plurality of data lines connected with the plurality of pixels, each of the plurality of data lines extending in a first direction; and

a crack detecting line positioned at the non-display area of the substrate,

wherein the crack detecting line comprises a first crack detecting line and a second crack detecting line, which are positioned opposite to each other with respect to the display area,

wherein each of the first crack detecting line and the second crack detecting line comprises:

a plurality of unit connectors each extending in the first direction; and

an even number of wiring portion units connected to each other through the plurality of unit connectors,

wherein the first crack detecting line and the second crack detecting line are symmetrical to each other with respect to the display area, and

wherein at least one pair of adjacent wiring portion units are symmetrical to each other with respect to an axis extending in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction.

2 . The display device of claim 1 , wherein

each of the first crack detecting line and the second crack detecting line comprises an equal number of unit connectors.

3 . The display device of claim 1 , wherein

each of the plurality of wiring portion units comprises a plurality of return wiring portions connected to each other.

4 . The display device of claim 3 , wherein

each return wiring portion of the plurality of return wiring portions includes a first bridge portion, a second bridge portion, and a connecting portion connecting the first bridge portion to the second bridge portion.

5 . The display device of claim 4 , wherein

the first and second bridge portions extend parallel to the first direction.

6 . The display device of claim 5 , wherein

the connecting portion extends not parallel to the first and second bridge portions.

7 . The display device of claim 4 , wherein

the connecting portion is shorter than the first and second bridge portions.

8 . The display device of claim 4 , wherein

the length of the first bridge portion is the same as that of the second bridge portion.

9 . The display device of claim 4 , wherein

the connecting portion is shorter than at least one of the unit connectors.

10 . The display device of claim 4 , wherein

the connecting portion extends in the second direction.

11 . The display device of claim 4 , wherein

each of the first and second bridge portions includes a first end and a second end disposed opposite to the first end, and

the connecting portions in the plurality of return wiring portions are alternately disposed at the first end and the second end.

12 . The display device of claim 3 , wherein

the interval between the plurality of return wiring portions is substantially constant.

13 . The display device of claim 3 , wherein

a return wiring portion, of the plurality of return wiring portions, disposed at an outmost portion of each wiring portion unit of the plurality of wiring portion units is connected to a unit connector of the plurality of unit connectors.

14 . The display device of claim 3 , wherein

a second interval between the plurality of wiring portion units is larger than a first interval between the plurality of return wiring portions.

15 . The display device of claim 1 , wherein

the unit connectors are alternately disposed on the side closer to the nearest side of the substrate and on the side closer to the center of the substrate with respect to the wiring portion units.

16 . The display device of claim 15 , wherein

two of the wiring portion units which are connected by the unit connector disposed on the side closer to the nearest side of the substrate are symmetrical to each other with respect to the unit connector.

17 . The display device of claim 1 , wherein

two unit connectors connect to each of the plurality of wiring portion units, and

one of the two unit connectors is disposed near the display area and the other one of the two unit connectors is disposed near the edge of the substrate.

18 . The display device of claim 1 , wherein

a width in the first direction of said the plurality of wiring portion units included in the first crack detecting line and the second crack detecting line is substantially constant.

19 . The display device of claim 1 , wherein

the non-display area comprises at least one first area, and

the crack detecting line is not disposed in the first area.

20 . The display device of claim 1 , wherein

each of the plurality of unit connectors does not extend across the wiring portion units adjacent to it.
