Abstract

A display device including a pixel includes: a substrate; a first pattern disposed on the substrate; a conductive, second pattern disposed on the first pattern and partially overlapping the first pattern; a conductive, third pattern disposed on the second pattern and partially overlapping the second pattern; a conductive, fourth pattern disposed on the third pattern and partially overlapping the third pattern, wherein the first pattern, the second pattern, the third pattern, and the fourth pattern overlap each other in a first area of the pixel; a pixel defining layer disposed on the fourth pattern and including a first opening overlapping a second area of the pixel without overlapping the first area; and a first emission layer to emit light having a blue color, the first emission layer disposed in the first opening.

Claims (43)

1 . A display device including a pixel having a red or green subpixel in a first area and a blue subpixel in a second area, the display device comprising:

a substrate;

a first pattern above the substrate;

a conductive second pattern above the first pattern;

a conductive third pattern above the conductive second pattern, and comprising an initialization voltage wire;

a conductive fourth pattern above the conductive third pattern, wherein the first pattern, the conductive second pattern, the conductive third pattern, and the conductive fourth pattern overlap each other in an overlap area of the first area of the pixel;

a pixel defining layer above the conductive fourth pattern, and defining a first opening overlapping the second area of the pixel without overlapping the first area; and

a first emission layer located in the first opening and configured to emit light having a blue color,

wherein each of the conductive third and fourth patterns is entirely conductive,

wherein the pixel defining layer further defines:

a second opening overlapping the overlap area of the first area and being spaced apart from the first opening; and

a third opening overlapping the overlap area of the first area and being spaced apart from the first opening and the second opening,

wherein an area of the first opening is larger than an area of the second opening and is larger than an area of the third opening,

wherein a sum of the area of the second opening and the area of the third opening is smaller than the area of the first opening,

wherein the display device further comprises:

a second emission layer configured to emit light having a red color, and located in the second opening; and

a third emission layer configured to emit light having a green color, and located in the third opening, and

wherein the second emission layer comprises an indented portion defined by a step formed at a bottom surface of the second emission layer overlapping the overlap area of the first area, a thickness of the indented portion being less than a thickness of surrounding portions of the second emission layer not overlapping the overlap area.

2 . The display device of claim 1 , wherein an area of the second opening has a same size as an area of the third opening.

3 . The display device of claim 1 , wherein the first to third emission layers have top surfaces that are substantially flat.

4 . The display device of claim 1 ,

wherein the second opening does not overlap the overlap area, and.

5 . The display device of claim 4 , wherein the first opening has a third area,

wherein the second opening has a fourth area, and

wherein the third opening has a fifth area that is larger than the third area and larger than the fourth area.

6 . The display device of claim 4 , wherein the first opening has a third area,

wherein the second opening has a fourth area,

wherein the third opening has a fifth area,

wherein the third area is substantially equal to the fourth area.

7 . The display device of claim 1 , wherein the first opening has a third area,

wherein the second opening has a fourth area,

wherein the third opening has a fifth area, and

wherein the third area is larger than the fourth area and is larger than the fifth area.

8 . The display device of claim 1 , wherein the first opening has a third area,

wherein the second opening has a fourth area, and

wherein the third opening has a fifth area that is substantially equal to the fourth area.

9 . The display device of claim 1 , wherein the first pattern comprises an active pattern of a driving transistor of the pixel,

wherein the conductive second pattern includes a gate electrode of the driving transistor,

wherein the conductive third pattern includes a capacitor electrode constituting a capacitor together with the gate electrode, and

wherein the conductive fourth pattern includes a connecting wire connecting the driving transistor and a compensation transistor of the pixel.

10 . The display device of claim 9 , wherein the conductive fourth pattern contacts the conductive second pattern.

11 . The display device of claim 10 , wherein the capacitor electrode includes a hole overlapping the conductive second and fourth patterns, and

wherein the conductive fourth pattern contacts the conductive second pattern through the hole.
