Abstract

The present invention relates to a Solanum lycopersicum seed designated 74-CH2147 RZ. The present invention also relates to a Solanum lycopersicum plant produced by growing the 74-CH2147 RZ seed. The invention further relates to methods for producing the tomato cultivar, represented by tomato variety 74-CH2147 RZ.

. A part of the hybrid tomato plant of claim 2 , wherein said plant part comprises a microspore, an ovary, an ovule, an embryo sac, an egg cell, a cutting, a leaf, pollen, an embryo, a cotyledon, a hypocotyl, a meristematic cell, a root, a root tip, a rootstock, a scion, an anther, a flower, a seed, a fruit, or a stem.

. A tomato ( Solanum lycopersicum ) plant having all the physiological and morphological characteristics of the tomato plant of claim 2 , wherein the physiological and morphological characteristics are as found in tomato variety 74-CH2147 RZ, a representative sample of seed having been deposited under NCIMB Accession No. 44385, or a part of said tomato plant.

. A tissue culture of regenerable cells or protoplasts from the plant or plant part of claim 2 .

. The tissue culture of claim 6 , wherein said cells or protoplasts of the tissue culture are derived from a microspore, an ovary, an ovule, an embryo sac, an egg cell, a cutting, a leaf, pollen, an embryo, a cotyledon, a hypocotyl, a meristematic cell, a root, a root tip, an anther, a flower, a seed, or a stem.

. A tomato plant regenerated from the tissue culture of claim 6 , wherein the regenerated plant expresses all of the physiological and morphological characteristics of hybrid tomato variety, 74-CH2147 RZ, a sample of seed having been deposited under NCIMB Accession No. 44385.

. A tomato plant regenerated from the tissue culture of claim 7 , wherein the regenerated plant is of tomato variety 74-CH2147 RZ and exhibits a combination of traits or resistances including resistance to Meloidogyne incognita (Mi), Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. lycopersici race 0 (ex1) and race 1 (ex2) (Fol), Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. radicis lycopersici (For), Cladosporium fulvum (Ff) groups A, B, C, D, and E, resistance to Tomato Mosaic Virus (ToMV) strains 0, 1 and 2, Tomato yellow leaf curl virus (TYLCV), a short to medium plant height, bipinnate leaves, and very small, circular, red, medium to firm fruit, a sample of seed of said hybrid tomato plant having been deposited under NCIMB Accession No. 44385.

. A tomato plant comprising a scion or rootstock of claim 4 .

. A method of vegetatively propagating a plant of hybrid tomato variety 74-CH2147 RZ comprising the steps of: (a) collecting tissue capable of being propagated from a plant of hybrid tomato variety 74-CH2147 RZ, a representative sample of seed having been deposited under NCIMB Accession No. 44385; and (b) producing a rooted plant from said tissue.

. A method for producing a progeny plant of the tomato ( Solanum lycopersicum ) plant of claim 2 , comprising crossing the plant of claim 2 with itself or with another Solanum lycopersicum plant, harvesting the resultant seed, and growing said seed.

. A progeny of the tomato ( Solanum lycopersicum ) plant produced by the method of claim 12 , wherein said progeny exhibits all the morphological and physiological characteristics of the hybrid tomato ( Solanum lycopersicum ) plant of claim 2 , a representative sample of seed having been deposited under NCIMB Accession No. 44385.

. The progeny plant of claim 13 , wherein said progeny plant is modified in one or more characteristics.

. A tomato plant of tomato variety 74-CH2147 RZ, a representative sample of seed having been deposited under NCIMB Accession No. 44385, further comprising a single locus conversion.

. The hybrid tomato plant of claim 2 , further comprising a transgene.

. The plant of claim 16 , wherein the transgene is introduced via transformation.

. A method for producing a seed of a 74-CH2147 RZ-derived tomato plant comprising (a) crossing a plant of tomato variety 74-CH2147 RZ, a representative sample of seed having been deposited under NCIMB Accession No. 44385, with itself or with a second tomato plant, and (b) whereby seed of a 74-CH2147 RZ-derived tomato plant forms.

. The method of claim 18 , further comprising (c) crossing a plant grown from 74-CH2147 RZ-derived tomato seed with itself or with a second tomato plant to yield additional 74-CH2147 RZ-derived tomato seed, (d) growing the additional 74-CH2147 RZ-derived tomato seed of step (c) to yield an additional 74-CH2147 RZ-derived tomato plant, and (e) repeating the crossing and growing of steps (c) and (d) for an additional 3-10 generations to generate a further 74-CH2147 RZ-derived tomato plant, and (f) allowing seed of the further 74-CH2147 RZ-derived tomato plant to form.

. A method of producing a plant of hybrid tomato variety 74-CH2147 RZ comprising at least one new trait, the method comprising introducing a mutation or transgene conferring the at least one new trait into a plant of hybrid tomato variety 74-CH2147 RZ, a representative sample of seed having been deposited under NCIMB Accession No. 44385.
