Abstract

Systems and methods are provided for a modular compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling station. The modular CNG fueling station modules include a control station skid, an interface module, and a compressor skid. The compressor skid includes a fueling station for fueling a compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicle. Each of the modules of the modular CNG fueling station are configured as fully wired “plug and play” station modules. The control station module, the interface module, and the compressor module are each pre-plumbed with electrical connections to allow the CFS station to be portable and easily installed above-ground at a utility site.

Claims (43)

1 . A compressor module for a compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling station comprising:

a housing configured to house a modular CNG compressor unit for the CNG fueling station;

preinstalled electrical conduits and valving;

a priority panel configured to control compressed natural gas flow for a fueling station module; and

a compressor module connection interface component configured to connect to an interface module comprising preinstalled electrical conduits configured for connecting the preinstalled electrical conduits of the compressor module at the compressor module connection interface component to a remotely placed control module.

2 . The compressor module of claim 1 , further comprising:

a defuel priority panel system operatively connected to the compressor module.

3 . The compressor module of claim 1 , further comprising:

the modular compressor unit; and

the housing preconfigured with electrical conduits to connect the modular compressor unit to the compressor module connection interface component.

4 . The compressor module of claim 3 , the housing further comprising a door sized for adding and removing the modular compressor unit.

5 . The compressor module of claim 3 , further comprising:

an I/O compressor board connected to the compressor module connection interface; and

an I/O interconnect panel connected to the I/O compressor board.

6 . The compressor module of claim 5 , wherein I/O compressor board is configured to communicate with a controller operatively connected to a control module connection interface component of the remotely placed control module.

7 . The compressor module of claim 3 , wherein the housing for the compressor module is configured to house a plurality of the modular compressor units.

8 . The compressor module of claim 7 , further comprising:

the electrical conduits to connect the modular compressor unit to the compressor module connection interface component being provided together as a module such that each of the plurality of compressor units can run independently.

9 . The compressor module of claim 7 , wherein the housing for the compressor module further comprises a plurality of service walkways for each of the plurality of modular compressor units.

10 . The compressor module of claim 7 , wherein the compressor module further comprises a frame configured to suspend the modular compressor unit above control components and plumbing for the compressor unit.

11 . A method comprising:

placing a compressor module configured to house a modular compressed natural gas (CNG) compressor unit and comprising a compressor module connection interface component on a modular CNG fueling station site, wherein the compressor module comprises a priority panel configured to control compressed natural gas flow a fueling station module;

placing a control station module for controlling the CNG fueling station comprising a control module connection interface component on the CNG station site at a site location separate from the compressor module, the control station module configured to power the modular CNG station; and

operatively connecting the compressor module to an interface module comprising electrical conduits for connecting the compressor module connection interface component to the control station module at the site location separate from the compressor module.

12 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the compressor module comprises:

the fueling station module.

13 . The method of claim 11 , further comprising:

connecting the compressor module to the interface module at an above-ground site platform of the CNG fueling station site.

14 . A compressor module for a compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling station comprising:

a housing configured to house a plurality of modular CNG compressor units for the CNG fueling station; and

a compressor unit connection module preconfigured with electrical conduits to connect the plurality modular compressor units to a compressor module connection interface component so that each of the plurality of modular compressor units can run independently, wherein the compressor module further comprises framing configured to suspend the plurality of modular compressor units above control components and plumbing for the compressor unit.

15 . The compressor module of claim 14 , wherein the housing for the compressor module further comprises a plurality of service walkways for each of the plurality of modular compressor units.

16 . The compressor module of claim 14 , the housing further comprising a door sized for adding and removing the modular compressor unit.

17 . The compressor module of claim 14 , further comprising:

a sub-floor; and

conduits pre-plumbed in the sub-floor of the compressor module configured to be connected to electrical components of the compressor unit and the compressor module connection interface component.

18 . A compressor module for a compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling station comprising:

a housing configured to house a modular CNG compressor unit for the CNG fueling station, wherein the housing is preconfigured with electrical conduits to connect the modular compressor unit to the compressor module connection interface component;

preinstalled electrical conduits and valving;

a compressor module connection interface component configured to connect to an interface module comprising preinstalled electrical conduits configured for connecting the preinstalled electrical conduits of the compressor module at the compressor module connection;

an I/O compressor board connected to the compressor module connection interface; and

an I/O interconnect panel connected to the I/O compressor board.

19 . The compressor module of claim 18 , wherein the I/O compressor board is configured to communicate with a controller operatively connected to a control module connection interface component of the remotely placed control module.
