System, method, user interface, and program product for integrating a coherent information summary into an application
View Patent ↗A system, methods, GUIs, and Program products are provided for achieving pertinent output information summarization according to the present invention, which sets forth the integrating of pertinent output information into a results output, or any other application, where the system receives a information inputs, which may include user natural language/keyword query, and generates coherent summarized response(s) based on pertinent output information calculated by the system.
1 . A computer-based Graphical User Interface (GUI) system comprising:
a query information Search and Summarization system processing;
an input field, wherein said input field being configured to receive a query information input for said query information Search and Summarization system processing;
wherein said query information Search and Summarization system includes a Language Model based generative artificial intelligence system;
wherein said Language Model based generative artificial intelligence system including a Large Language Model (LLM);
whereby said query information Search and Summarization system is configured to computes at least a pertinent output information based at least in part on a computing heuristic and/or a proprietary rule related to said query information input;
wherein said computed pertinent output information is comprised of at least one pertinent portion of a most pertinent document(s);
wherein said pertinent portion includes at least one or more text fragment(s) and/or graphic information portion(s);
wherein said query information Search and Summarization system is further configured to generates a multi-document summarization of said pertinent output information for displaying upon said Graphical User Interface (GUI);
wherein said Graphical User Interface (GUI) receives said pertinent output information, and arranges said pertinent output information, in an information summarization portion;
wherein said pertinent output information and said displayed summarization being at least in part derived from the Language Model based generative artificial intelligence system;
wherein said pertinent output information summarization and said arranged summarization are configured to exhibit a summary or narrative portion that summarizes an output information results;
wherein said output information result includes one or more text fragment(s)/portion(s) and/or one or more graphic information portion(s), generated in response to the query, that generally reads as a coherent natural language text; and
wherein said multi-document summarization is configured to provide an overview of said pertinent output information.

The computer-based Graphical User Interface (GUI) of claim 1 , further comprising: configuring said information Search and Summarization system, to, based upon a Graphical User Interface (GUI) control action or setting, optionally presenting on the Graphical User Interface (GUI) at least one or more citation(s) of pertinent document source(s) having information that is/are associated with said summary or said at least one or more text fragment(s)/portion(s), the citation(s) being configured to enable locate and/or navigate functions to viewing the pertinent document source(s) on said Graphical User Interface (GUI).

The computer-based Graphical User Interface (GUI) of claim 1 , further comprising a clickable or selectable link for navigating to at least one source document related to at least a portion of the summary, akin to bibliographical reference, wherein said at least one source document at least reasonably supports the cited portion of the summary content, even if not being a directly quoted information source.

The computer-based Graphical User Interface (GUI) of claim 1 , further comprising: extracting semantic concepts, by the summarization engine, displaying the semantic concepts to the Graphical User Interface (GUI), in a form of a list, or a cluster hierarchy, or a tag cloud, and presenting the concepts to refine the query, or to navigate to certain parts of the summary, or to modify or regroup the contents of the summary, by selecting or unselecting certain clusters or concepts, wherein the modify function is configured to enable a request to a modified summary that is regenerated based upon a selected displayed source(s).

The computer-based Graphical User Interface (GUI) of claim 1 , further comprising: configuring said information Search and Summarization system and said Graphical User Interface (GUI) to enable rating the summaries based on quality or satisfaction, or rate individual text fragments or concepts, or rate the documents returned by the search engine, where the rating is communicated back to the system, and used by the system for learning.

The computer-based Graphical User Interface (GUI) of claim 1 , further comprising: configuring said information Search and Summarization system and said Graphical User Interface (GUI) to handle situations where a Web page or a number of Web pages comprising a Web application calls a search engine, receiving back the links to the documents, then passing the links to said information Search and Summarization system, receiving back the summary, and presenting the summary via said Graphical User Interface (GUI).

The computer-based Graphical User Interface (GUI) of claim 1 where an Internet browser plugin or add-on screen-scrapes the results of a search on a Web page, then passes the links to a summarization engine, receives back the summary, and presents the summary to said Graphical User Interface (GUI).
8 . The computer-based Graphical User Interface (GUI) of claim 1 where a Web service is used to call at least a Web application;
wherein said Web application is configured to pass one or more links to documents;
wherein said Web application is further configured to call a summarization engine;
wherein said Web application is operable for receiving a summary from said summarization engine;
wherein said Web application is further operable for passing the summary to the Web service; and
wherein the Web service is configured to returns the summary to the caller application to peruse in any desired fashion.

The computer-based Graphical User Interface (GUI) of claim 1 where a computer software program product installed on a standalone computer or a LAN server calls a search engine system via an API, receives back the links to the documents, then passes the links to a summarization engine, receives back the summary, and presents the summary to the Graphical User Interface (GUI).
10 . The computer-based Graphical User Interface (GUI) of claim 1 where a computer software program product installed on a client device is configured to be operable for;
calling a server application;
passing a query to the server application;
wherein the server application passes the query to a search engine;
receiving links to at least one or more document(s);
passing links to a summarization engine;
receiving back the summary; and
returning the summary to a client device to present to the Graphical User Interface (GUI).
11 . The computer-based Graphical User Interface (GUI) of claim 1 where, instead of utilizing a search engine system, at least one of a Question-Answering system and an Internet or Intranet Directory is used.
12 . The computer-based Graphical User Interface (GUI) of claim 1 , wherein said information Search and Summarization system and said Graphical User Interface (GUI) are configured with at least one of a search engine, a Question-Answering system, and an Internet or Intranet Directory.
13 . The computer-based Graphical User Interface (GUI) of claim 1 , where a computer software program product running on a standalone computer is configured to performs a search on one or more computer drive(s) and summarize(s) at least one or more found search result(s) on the same computer.
14 . A computer-based method, executed by at least one or more processors, the method comprising the following steps:
receiving an input field, said input field being configured to receive an information input for an information Search and Summarization system processing;
wherein said information Search and Summarization system includes at least a Language Model based generative artificial intelligence systems;
computing, with said information Search and Summarization system, a pertinent output information being based at least in part on a computing heuristic and/or a proprietary rule related to said information input
generating a multi-document summarization of said pertinent output information;
displaying said multi-document summarization upon a Graphical User Interface (GUI);
configuring said information Search and Summarization system processing and said Graphical User Interface (GUI) to enable:
detecting, by a summarization module, at least one or more text fragment(s)/portion(s) and/or graphic information portion(s) coming from different sources that are either identical or substantially similar in content, whereby such duplicate or substantially similar fragments/portions are merged into one text fragment/portion;
rating the multi-document summaries based on quality or satisfaction;
rating individual text fragments or concepts;
rating the documents returned by a search engine; and
where said rating is communicated back to the system, and used by the system for learning;
receiving, with said Graphical User Interface (GUI), said pertinent output information summarization;
presenting, in an information summarization portion, said pertinent output information summarization, said displayed summarization being at least in part derived from a Language Model based system;
producing a displayed summary or narrative portion that summarizes said output information results, to include said one or more text fragment(s)/portion(s) and/or graphic information portion(s);
generating, in response to the query, text fragments/portions and/or graphic information portions that generally reads as coherent natural language text to the Graphical User Interface (GUI);
providing, with said multi-document summarization, an overview of said pertinent output information.
15 . The computer-based method of claim 14 , wherein the pertinent information is further comprised of a natural language summary of pertinent image(s) that are sourced from multiple documents and/or multiple portions of the same document; and
presenting at least one or more citation(s) of pertinent document source(s) having information that is/are associated with at least one of said text fragment(s) and pertinent image(s).
16 . A software program product stored in a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium, wherein the software program product instructs one or more processors to perform the following steps:
receiving an input field, said input field being configured to receive information input for an information Search and Summarization system processing, wherein said information Search and Summarization system includes at least a Language Model based generative artificial intelligence system;
computing, with said information Search and Summarization system, pertinent output information related to the information input;
generating a multi-document summarization of said output pertinent information for displaying upon a Graphical User Interface (GUI);
receiving, with said Graphical User Interface (GUI), said pertinent output information;
exhibiting, in an information summarization portion, said pertinent output information summarization, said exhibited multi-document summarization being at least in part derived from the Language Model based generative artificial intelligence system;
generating text fragments/portions in response to the query
producing a summary or narrative portion that summarizes results, to include said text fragments/portions, generated in response to the query, that generally reads as coherent natural language text to said Graphical User Interface (GUI), said multi-document summarization at least providing an overview of said pertinent output information.
17 . A question answering summarization Graphical User Interface (GUI), comprising:
an input field for Receiving a question in the form of an information search query;
triggering a generation of a plain English answer summary of a pertinent search answer results;
an information Search and Summarization system, wherein said information Search and Summarization system is configured to computes a pertinent answer output information;
wherein said plain English answer summary generated being based at least in part on at least a computing heuristic/proprietary rules relating a question information search query to a pertinent multi-document and/or a knowledgebase search answer(s);
configuring said information Search and Summarization system;
exhibiting on the Graphical User Interface (GUI), at least one or more citation(s) of pertinent document source(s) having information that is/are associated with a summary or at least one or more text fragment(s)/portion(s); and
arranging on the Graphical User Interface (GUI), at least one or more citation(s) being configured to enable a locate and/or navigate function to viewing pertinent document source(s) on said Graphical User Interface (GUI); and
presenting said plain English summary upon said Graphical User Interface (GUI).
18 . The GUI of claim 17 , wherein said information Search and Summarization system employs a natural language Summarization techniques to produce a coherent natural language text; and
wherein said natural language Summarization techniques include at least one of a Statistical approach, a Graph-based method, a Machine learning, a Neural network, an LLM, and unsupervised clustering.
