Abstract

Systems and methods to integrate point of sale processing, online order processing, coupon management, WiFi access management, and supply chain and store management, etc. In one aspect, a central server provides point of sale, coupon management and other functions via browser based interfaces. The system provides a coupon to a customer to offer discounts to friends of the customer and/or rewards to the customer if the friends of the customer use the coupon. The system validates the coupon when the coupon is used at POS terminals of the system and tracks the usage of the coupons to select customers for targeting future coupons. In another aspect, the central server is configured to provide the customer with WiFi access at the retail location where the order of the customer is fulfilled and further configured to automatically log the customer into an account of the customer hosted on a third party server.

Claims (50)

1 . A computer-implemented method comprising:

receiving, at a server, data representing a first transaction from a first device, the first device associated with a first customer;

generating, at the server, a unique code representative of a coupon, wherein the unique code is configured to be transmitted and displayed in digital form, and the unique code is configured to be scanned by a point of sale apparatus, the unique code associated with a user identifier associated with the first customer;

synchronizing, by the server, a coupon status data structure to the point of sale apparatus while a network connection between the server and the point of sale apparatus is available;

detecting, by the server, that the network connection to the point of sale apparatus is unavailable;

detecting, by the server, that the point of sale apparatus has returned to online mode after the network connection is restored;

receiving, at the server, a redemption request from the point of sale apparatus, the redemption request associated with a second customer associated with a second device, wherein the second customer is different than the first customer, and wherein the redemption request includes the unique code and wherein the redemption request is associated with a redemption that occurred during offline mode when the network connection to the point of sale apparatus was unavailable;

validating, by the server, the unique code for redemption;

updating, by the server, the coupon status data structure based on the validation; and

synchronizing, by the server, the updated coupon status data structure to the point of sale apparatus maintaining data consistency between the server and the point of sale apparatus.

2 . The computer-implemented method according to claim 1 , further comprising:

tracking, at the server, usage of the unique code.

3 . The computer-implemented method according to claim 1 , wherein validating the unique code for redemption comprises validating the unique code against the coupon status data structure, the coupon status data structure comprising a list of valid unique codes.

4 . The computer-implemented method according to claim 1 , wherein the unique code is linked to web page which offers a discount on future transactions.

5 . The computer-implemented method according to claim 1 , wherein the unique code is configured to be valid for a limited number of uses.

6 . The computer-implemented method according to claim 1 , wherein validating the unique code for redemption comprises validating a friend relationship between the first customer and the second customer via a social networking site associated with the first customer.

7 . The computer-implemented method according to claim 1 , wherein the unique code is configured to be valid for a limited number of uses by the second customer.

8 . A computer program product comprising at least one non-transitory computer-readable storage medium having computer-executable program code instructions stored therein, the computer-executable program code instructions comprising program code instructions for:

receiving, at a server, data representing a first transaction from a first device, the first device associated with a first customer;

generating, at the server, a unique code representative of a coupon, wherein the unique code is configured to be transmitted and displayed in digital form, and the unique code is configured to be scanned by a point of sale apparatus, the unique code associated with a user identifier associated with the first customer;

synchronizing, by the server, a coupon status data structure to the point of sale apparatus while a network connection between the server and the point of sale apparatus is available;

detecting, by the server, that the network connection to the point of sale apparatus is unavailable;

detecting, by the server, that the point of sale apparatus has returned to online mode after the network connection is restored;

receiving, at the server, a redemption request from the point of sale apparatus, the redemption request associated with a second customer associated with a second device, wherein the second customer is different than the first customer, and wherein the redemption request includes the unique code and wherein the redemption request is associated with a redemption that occurred during offline mode when the network connection to the point of sale apparatus was unavailable;

validating, by the server, the unique code for redemption;

updating, by the server, the coupon status data structure based on the validation; and

synchronizing, by the server, the updated coupon status data structure to the point of sale apparatus maintaining data consistency between the server and the point of sale apparatus.

9 . The computer program product according to claim 8 , wherein the computer-executable program code instructions further comprise program code instructions for:

tracking, at the server, usage of the unique code.

10 . The computer program product according to claim 8 , wherein validating the unique code for redemption comprises validating the unique code against the coupon status data structure, the coupon status data structure comprising a list of valid unique codes.

11 . The computer program product according to claim 8 , wherein the unique code is linked to web page which offers a discount on future transactions.

12 . The computer program product according to claim 8 , wherein the unique code is configured to be valid for a limited number of uses.

13 . The computer program product according to claim 8 , wherein validating the unique code for redemption comprises validating a friend relationship between the first customer and the second customer via a social networking site associated with the first customer.

14 . The computer program product according to claim 8 , wherein the unique code is configured to be valid for a limited number of uses by the second customer.

15 . An apparatus comprising at least one processor and at least one memory including computer program code, the at least one memory and the computer program code configured to, with the at least one processor, cause the apparatus to at least:

receive, at a server, data representing a first transaction from a first device, the first device associated with a first customer;
