Abstract

A method performed by a STA may comprise transmitting an HE LTF of a data unit. The HE LTF may have a number of symbols based on a number of space-time streams utilized for the data unit. The HE LTF may be transmitted on a subset of subcarriers of a 20 MHz channel, a 40 MHZ channel or an 80 MHz channel.

Claims (27)

1 . A station comprising:

a processor configured to determine a number of symbols utilized for a long training field (LTF) communication based on a number of space-time streams associated with a wireless local area network (WLAN) communication, wherein:

the number of space-times streams is at least two;

on a condition that the number of space-time streams is equal to 2, 4, 6, or 8, the processor determines the number of symbols is equal to the number of space-time streams;

on a condition that the number of space-time steams is not equal to 2, 4, 6, or 8, the processor determines the number of symbols is a next higher number than the number of space-time steams; and

a transmitter configured to transmit the LTF communication using a set of subcarriers associated with the number of space-time streams.

2 . The station of claim 1 , wherein the number of space-time streams is a total number of space-time streams for multi-user multiple input multiple-output (MU MIMO) users.

3 . The station of claim 1 , wherein the processor is further configured to determine a group identifier and identify a position of a device in a group associated with the group identifier.

4 . The station of claim 1 , wherein the LTF communication is part of a physical protocol data unit (PPDU).

5 . A method comprising:

determining, by a station, a number of symbols utilized for a long training field (LTF) communication based on a number of space-time streams associated with a wireless local area network (WLAN) communication, wherein:

the number of space-times streams is at least two;

on a condition that the number of space-time streams is equal to 2, 4, 6, or 8, determining the number of symbols is equal to the number of space-time streams;

on a condition that the number of space-time steams is not equal to 2, 4, 6, or 8, determining the number of symbols is a next higher number than the number of space-time steams; and

transmitting, by the station, the LTF communication using a set of subcarriers associated with the number of space-time streams.

6 . The method of claim 5 , wherein the number of space-time streams is a total number of space-time streams for multi-user multiple input multiple-output (MU MIMO) users.

7 . The method of claim 5 , further comprising determining a group identifier and identifying a position of a device in a group associated with the group identifier.

8 . The method of claim 5 , wherein the LTF communication is part of a physical protocol data unit (PPDU).

9 . At least one non-transitory computer-readable storage medium comprising executable instructions for configuring at least one processor to:

determine a number of symbols utilized for a long training field (LTF) communication based on a number of space-time streams associated with a wireless local area network (WLAN) communication, wherein:

the number of space-times streams is at least two;

on a condition that the number of space-time streams is equal to 2, 4, 6, or 8, the processor determines the number of symbols is equal to the number of space-time streams;

on a condition that the number of space-time steams is not equal to 2, 4, 6, or 8, the processor determines the number of symbols is a next higher number than the number of space-time steams; and

transmit the LTF communication using a set of subcarriers associated with the number of space-time streams.

10 . The at least one non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 9 , wherein the number of space-time streams is a total number of space-time streams for multi-user multiple input multiple-output (MU MIMO) users.

11 . The at least one non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 9 , wherein the processor is further configured to determine a group identifier and identify a position of a device in a group associated with the group identifier.

12 . The at least one non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 9 , wherein the LTF communication is part of a physical protocol data unit (PPDU).
