System and method for network distribution of quantum entanglement
Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, identifying a request to facilitate communications between first and second processing nodes, determining that the communications are to be established via quantum teleportation between, and identifying a network path comprising a first path segment to obtain a quantum channel, wherein quantum entanglement is established between the first and second processing nodes based on transportation of a first quantum entangled object via the quantum channel. A classical communication channel is facilitated between the first and second processing nodes, adapted to exchange between the nodes, quantum state information of a measurement performed upon the first quantum entangled object. Information is exchanged between the first and second processing nodes via the quantum channel according to the transported first quantum entangled object and the exchanged quantum state information. Other embodiments are disclosed.
1 . A system, comprising:
a processing system including a processor; and
a memory that stores executable instructions that, when executed by the processing system, facilitate performance of operations, the operations comprising:
identifying a first network path of a plurality of network paths, wherein quantum entanglement is capable of being established between a first communication node and a second communication node based on transportation of a first quantum entangled object of a first pair of quantum entangled objects to the first communication node via the first network path;
based on a first location of the first communication node, identifying a quantum source for generating the first pair of quantum entangled objects, wherein the first network path at least partially extends between the quantum source and the first communication node; and
generating signaling information based on the identifying the first network path to facilitate establishment of the first network path for the transportation of the first quantum entangled object of the first pair of quantum entangled objects to the first communication node.
2 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the operations further comprise:
identifying a second network path of the plurality of network paths based on a second location of the second communication node, and wherein the second network path transports a second quantum entangled object of the first pair of quantum entangled objects to the second communication node.
3 . The system of claim 2 , wherein the operations further comprise determining the first location of the first communication node and the second location of the second communication node.
4 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the signaling information is provided to a configurable switch via a communication channel, physically separate from a quantum channel configured to exchange information between the first and second communication nodes according to the first pair of quantum entangled objects.
5 . The system of claim 4 , wherein the communication channel comprises a powerline communications channel.
6 . The system of claim 4 , wherein the quantum channel comprises a fiber optic communications channel.
7 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the first pair of quantum entangled objects comprises a first pair of quantum entangled photons.
8 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the quantum entanglement of the first pair of quantum entangled objects is extended between the first communication node and the second communication node according to a second pair of quantum entangled objects.
9 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the first network path comprises a quantum repeater, the quantum entanglement being established between the first communication node and the quantum repeater based on an entanglement swapping of the second pair of quantum entangled objects at the quantum repeater, and wherein an exchange of information occurs between the first communication node and the second communication node via a quantum channel according to the transported of the first quantum entangled object of the first pair of quantum entangled objects and according to the entanglement swapping based on the second pair of quantum entangled objects.
10 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the first pair of quantum entangled objects and the second pair of quantum entangled objects comprise quantum entangled photons originating from the quantum source.
11 . A method, comprising:
identifying, by a processing system including a processor, a network path of a plurality of network paths, wherein quantum entanglement is capable of being established between a first communication node and a second communication node based on transportation of a first quantum entangled object of a first group of quantum entangled objects to the first communication node via a first path segment of the network path;
based on a first location of the first communication node, identifying, by the processing system, a quantum source for generating the first group of quantum entangled objects, wherein the first path segment at least partially extends between the quantum source and the first communication node; and
generating, by the processing system, signaling information based on the identifying the network path to facilitate establishment of the first path segment of the network path for the transportation of the first quantum entangled object of the first group of quantum entangled objects to the first communication node.
12 . The method of claim 11 , further comprising:
identifying, by the processing system, a second path segment of the network path based on a second location of the second communication node, wherein the second path segment transports a second quantum entangled object of the first group of quantum entangled objects to the second communication node.
13 . The method of claim 12 , wherein the first and second locations comprise physical locations.
14 . The method of claim 12 , further comprising determining the first location of the first communication node and the second location of the second communication node.
15 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the signaling information is provided to a configurable switch via a control channel.
16 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the first quantum entangled object comprises a quantum entangled photon.
17 . A non-transitory, machine-readable medium, comprising executable instructions that, when executed by a processing system including a processor, facilitate performance of operations, the operations comprising:
identifying a network path comprising a first path segment to obtain a quantum channel, wherein quantum entanglement is established between a first processing node and a second processing node based on transportation of a first quantum entangled object of a group of quantum entangled objects to the first processing node via the quantum channel;
based on a first location of the first processing node, identifying a quantum source for generating the group of quantum entangled objects, wherein the first path segment at least partially extends between the quantum source and the first processing node; and
generating signaling information based on the identifying the network path to facilitate establishment of the quantum channel for the transportation of the first quantum entangled object of the group of quantum entangled objects to the first processing node.
18 . The non-transitory, machine-readable medium of claim 17 , wherein the operations further comprise:
identifying a second path segment of the network path based on a second location of the second processing node, wherein the second path segment transports a second quantum entangled object of the group of quantum entangled objects to the second processing node.
19 . The non-transitory, machine-readable medium of claim 18 , wherein the operations further comprise determining the first location of the first processing node and the second location of the second processing node.
20 . The non-transitory, machine-readable medium of claim 17 , wherein the group of quantum entangled objects comprise qubits.
