Content item positioning
Systems, methods, and computer-readable media are provided for content item positioning. In some examples, a method can include obtaining a first content item for display at a first display device, the first content item comprising video data; based on the video data, generating a saliency map of the first content item, the saliency map identifying regions of the first content item, each region being associated with a saliency value; determining, based on the saliency map, whether one or more regions of the regions have a saliency value that is below a predetermined saliency value; and based on the determining whether the one or more regions have a saliency value that is below a predetermined saliency value, determining whether to insert a second content item within the one or more regions of the first content item or within a display region of a second display device.
1 . A computer-implemented method comprising:
obtaining device data of a computing device associated with a user;
based on the device data, determining that a computing device is connected to multiple display devices, the multiple display devices comprising a first display device and a second display device;
obtaining a first content item for display at the first display device, the first content item comprising video data;
based on the video data, generating a saliency map of the first content item, the saliency map identifying a plurality of regions of the first content item, each region of the plurality of regions being associated with a saliency value;
determining one or more regions of the plurality of regions do not have a saliency value that is below a predetermined saliency value based on the saliency map; and
based on the determining the one or more regions do not have a saliency value that is below a predetermined saliency value, determining to display a second content item within a display region of a second display device.
2 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising:
determining that the first display device of the multiple display devices is displaying the first content item.
3 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising:
obtaining data about one or more user interactions with at least one of the first content item and the second content item; and
wherein determining to display the second content item within the display region of the second display device is further based on the data about the one or more user interactions.
4 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising:
obtaining data about one or more user interactions with at least one of the first content item and the second content item.
5 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising:
determining at least one of saliency data and attention data associated with the first content item, the attention data indicating at least one of a user attention level corresponding to the first content item and user engagement with the first content item; and
wherein determining to display the second content item within the display region of the second display device is further based on the saliency data and the attention data.
6 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising:
obtaining subtitle data of at least one of the first content item and the second content item; and
displaying information included in the subtitle data on the second display device.
7 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein determining to display the second content item within the display region of the second display device comprises determining that the first content item is displayed via the first display device; and determining to display the second content item via the second display device based on the determining that the first content item is displayed via the first display device.
8 . A system, comprising:
a memory storing instructions; and
at least one processor coupled to the memory and configured to execute the instructions to:
obtain device data of a computing device associated with a user;
based on the device data, determine that a computing device is connected to multiple display devices, the multiple display devices comprising a first display device and a second display device;
obtain a first content item for display at the first display device, the first content item comprising video data;
based on the video data, generate a saliency map of the first content item, the saliency map identifying a plurality of regions of the first content item, each region of the plurality of regions being associated with a saliency value;
determine one or more regions of the plurality of regions do not have a saliency value that is below a predetermined saliency value based on the saliency map; and
based on the determining the one or more regions do not have a saliency value that is below a predetermined saliency value, determine to display a second content item within a display region of a second display device.
9 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the at least one processor is configured to execute the instructions further to:
determine that the first display device of the multiple display devices is displaying the first content item.
10 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the at least one processor is configured to execute the instructions further to:
obtain data about one or more user interactions with at least one of the first content item and the second content item; and
wherein to determine to display the second content item within the display region of the second display device is further based on the data about the one or more user interactions.
11 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the at least one processor is configured to execute the instructions further to:
obtain data about one or more user interactions with at least one of the first content item and the second content item.
12 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the at least one processor is configured to execute the instructions further to:
determine at least one of saliency data and attention data associated with the first content item, the attention data indicating at least one of a user attention level corresponding to the first content item and user engagement with the first content item; and
wherein to determine to display the second content item within the display region of the second display device is further based on the saliency data and the attention data.
13 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the at least one processor is configured to execute the instructions further to:
obtain subtitle data of at least one of the first content item and the second content item; and
display information included in the subtitle data on the second display device.
14 . The system of claim 8 , wherein to determine to display the second content item within the display region of the second display device comprises determining that the first content item is displayed via the first display device; and determining to display the second content item via the second display device based on the determining that the first content item is displayed via the first display device.
15 . A non-transitory computer-readable medium having instructions stored thereon that, when executed by at least one computing device, cause the at least one computing device to perform operations comprising:
obtaining device data of a computing device associated with a user;
based on the device data, determining that the computing device is connected to multiple display devices, the multiple display devices comprising a first display device and a second display device;
obtaining a first content item for display at the first display device, the first content item comprising video data;
based on the video data, generating a saliency map of the first content item, the saliency map identifying a plurality of regions of the first content item, each region of the plurality of regions being associated with a saliency value;
determining one or more regions of the plurality of regions do not have a saliency value that is below a predetermined saliency value based on the saliency map; and
based on the determining the one or more regions do not have a saliency value that is below a predetermined saliency value, determining to display a second content item within a display region of a second display device.
16 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the instructions further cause the at least one computing device to perform operations comprising:
determining that the first display device of the multiple display devices is displaying the first content item.
17 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the instructions further cause the at least one computing device to perform operations comprising:
obtaining data about one or more user interactions with at least one of the first content item and the second content item; and
wherein determining to display the second content item within the display region of the second display device is further based on the data about the one or more user interactions.
18 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the instructions further cause the at least one computing device to perform operations comprising:
obtaining data about one or more user interactions with at least one of the first content item and the second content item.
19 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the instructions further cause the at least one computing device to perform operations comprising:
determining attention data associated with the first content item, the attention data indicating at least one of a user attention level corresponding to the first content item and user engagement with the first content item; and
wherein determining display the second content item within the display region of the second display device is further based on the saliency data and the attention data.
20 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein determining to display the second content item within the display region of the second display device comprises determining that the first content item is displayed via the first display device; and determining to display the second content item via the second display device based on the determining that the first content item is displayed via the first display device.
