Space guidance and management system and method
A system for use in a facility area including reservable spaces and common spaces and comprising a database storing space information, space map data and space scheduling information and including a user interface display screen mounted in a common space, a user location sensor and a processor linked to the databases and programmed to receive sensor signals and determine when a user is located within the sensing zone, the processor further programmed to generate and present a graphical facility area map representation of the facility area on the display screen and, upon detecting a user within the sensing zone, automatically identifying a destination space within the zone that the user likely intends to travel to and presenting an indication of the space on the graphical map indicating the location of the destination space within the facility.
1 . A system for facilitating remote conferencing between conferees located at different locations, the conferees including at least a first local conferee located within a first conference space and a second remote conferee located in a second conference space that is different than the first conference space, the system comprising:
a camera located within the first conference space and having a field of view (FOV) that corresponds to an area within the first conference space;
a first user interface including a first display screen located within the first conference space;
a first processor operably connected to the first user interface;
a second user interface including a second display screen located within the second conference space;
a second processor operably connected to the second user interface;
the first processor programmed to perform the steps of:
presenting images corresponding to the FOV via the first display screen;
receiving a selection via the first user interface of a first area within the FOV to be redacted from images presented to the second remote conferee; and
the second processor programmed to perform the steps of:
presenting the images corresponding to the FOV without portions of the images corresponding to the first area via the second display screen.

The system of claim 1 wherein the step of receiving a selection includes presenting a default redaction window on the images corresponding to the FOV that are presented on the first display screen and receiving input via the first display screen from the first conferee adjusting the boundaries of the default redaction window to change the first area within the FOV.
3 . The system of claim 2 wherein the redaction window is visually distinguished from other portions of the FOV on the first display screen.
4 . The system of claim 3 wherein the redaction window is darkly shaded to visually distinguish.
5 . The system of claim 2 wherein the first display screen includes a touch sensitive display screen, the step of receiving input via the display screen includes the user selecting an edge of the redaction window via touch and dragging the edge on the first display screen to change the boundaries.

The system of claim 2 wherein, as the boundaries of the first area are changed, the step of presenting the images corresponding to the FOV without portions of the images corresponding to the first area via the second display screen includes modifying the images presented on the second display screen to reflect modifications to the first area.

The system of claim 1 wherein the first processor is further programmed to perform the steps of receiving a second selection via the first user interface of a second area within the FOV to be redacted from images presented to the second remote conferee, the step of presenting the images corresponding to the FOV without portions of the images corresponding to the first area including presenting the images corresponding to the FOV without portions of the images corresponding to each of the first and second areas.
8 . The system of claim 1 wherein the camera is a wide-angle camera and the images are wide angle images.
9 . The system of claim 8 wherein a conference table having a circumferential edge is located within the first conference space and wherein the FOV includes space adjacent at least a portion the circumferential edge of the conference table.
10 . The system of claim 9 wherein the FOV includes space adjacent substantially the entire circumferential edge of the conference table.
11 . The system of claim 10 wherein the FOV is presented as a wide angle ribbon view on the second display screen and wherein the second processor is further programmed to receive input via the second display screen defining a selection box corresponding to a portion of the ribbon view and, based on the selection box, enlarges the portion of the ribbon view associated with the selection box in an enlarged viewing window.

The system of claim 1 wherein the step of presenting the images corresponding to the FOV without portions of the images corresponding to the first area via the second display screen includes presenting the entire FOV with the portion of the images corresponding to the first area visually distinguished from other portions of the images.
13 . The system of claim 12 wherein the portion of the images corresponding to the first area are darkly shaded to block viewing of the first area.
14 . The system of claim 1 wherein at least one conferee within the first conference space uses a personal computing device during a conferencing session wherein the personal computing device includes a device display screen, the first processor further programmed to determine when the first conferee is within a portion of the first conference space associated with the first area and to cause the personal computing device to indicate via the device display screen when the first conferee is not being viewed remotely.

The system of claim 1 wherein at least one conferee within the first conference space uses a personal computing device during a conferencing session wherein the personal computing device includes a device display screen, the first processor further programmed to determine when the first conferee is within the FOV and outside a portion of the first conference space associated with the first area and to cause the personal computing device to indicate via the device display screen when the first conferee is being viewed remotely.
16 . The system of claim 15 wherein the indication that the first conferee is being viewed remotely indicates the identity of the second remote conferee.
17 . The system of claim 16 wherein at least a third conferee is located within the second conference space and wherein the indication further indicates the identity of the third conferee.
18 . The system of claim 1 further including a light projector located within the first conference space, the first processor controlling the light projector to illuminate portions of the first conference space to indicate portions of the first conference space that are being remotely viewed at the second conference space.
19 . The system of claim 1 further including a light projector located within the first conference space, the first processor controlling the light projector to illuminate portions of the first conference space to indicate portions of the first conference space that are not being remotely viewed at the second conference space.
20 . A system for facilitating remote conferencing between conferees located at different locations, the conferees including at least a first local conferee located within a first conference space and a second remote conferee located in a second conference space that is different than the first conference space, the system comprising:
a camera located within the first conference space and having a wide angle field of view (FOV) that corresponds to an area within the first conference space;
a first user interface including a first display screen located within the first conference space;
a first processor operably connected to the first user interface;
a second user interface including a second display screen located within the second conference space;
a second processor operably connected to the second user interface;
the first processor programmed to perform the steps of:
presenting images corresponding to the wide area FOV via the first display screen;
presenting a default redaction window on the images corresponding to the wide area FOV that are presented on the first display screen and receiving input via the first display screen from the first conferee adjusting the boundaries of the default redaction window to change the first area within the FOV; and
the second processor programmed to perform the steps of:
presenting the images corresponding to the wide area FOV via the second display screen wherein portions of the images corresponding to the first area are visually distinguished on the second display screen to block viewing of the first area.
21 . A system for facilitating remote conferencing between conferees located at different locations, the conferees including at least a first local conferee located within a first conference space and a second remote conferee located in a second conference space that is different than the first conference space, the first conferee using a portable computing device including a device display screen within the first conference space, the system comprising:
a camera located within the first conference space and having a field of view (FOV) that corresponds to an area within the first conference space;
a first user interface including a first display screen located within the first conference space;
a first processor operably connected to the first user interface;
a second user interface including a second display screen located within the second conference space;
a second processor operably connected to the second user interface;
the first processor programmed to perform the steps of:
transmitting images corresponding to the FOV to the second processor;
receiving an indication from the second processor indicating the portion of the FOV currently being presented by the second remote conferee on the second display screen;
determining when the first conferee is located within the portion of the FOV currently being presented via the second display screen; and
presenting an indication via the device display indicating that the first conferee is included within the portion of the FOV currently being presented via the second display screen;
the second processor programmed to perform the steps of:
presenting at least a portion of the images corresponding to the FOV via the second display screen; and
receiving input via the second display screen changing the portion of the images corresponding to the FOV presented on the second display screen.
