Abstract

The disclosure relates to a 5G or 6G communication system for supporting a higher data transmission rate. The present disclosure provides a method and equipment for supporting a handover, which discloses: a method performed by a first node in a wireless communication network, including: receiving a handover request message from a core network node; sending a first message including an indication of direct data forwarding to a second node; and receiving a second message including information on data forwarding tunnel allocated by the second node from the second node.

Claims (23)

1 . A method performed by a centralized unit-control plane (CU-CP) of a target base station in a wireless communication network, the method comprising:

receiving, by the CU-CP, a handover request message from a core network node;

transmitting, by the CU-CP to a CU-user plane (UP) of the target base station, a first message including a data forwarding information request, and first information on direct forwarding path availability; and

receiving, by the CU-CP from the CU-UP, a second message including second information related to data forwarding,

wherein the second information related to the data forwarding includes a tunnel endpoint identifier (TEID) and a transport layer address for inter-system direct data forwarding, and

wherein the transport layer address is an internet protocol (IP) address and is assigned by the CU-UP from an address space reserved for a source base station, and

wherein the second information related to the data forwarding is assigned by the CU-UP for the inter-system direct data forwarding between a 5G system (5GS) and an evolved packet core (EPC), in case that the first information on the direct forwarding path availability in the first message is set to inter-system direct path available.

2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

transmitting, by the CU-CP to the core network, a handover request acknowledge message including third information related to the data forwarding.

3 . The method of claim 2 , further comprising:

receiving, by the CU-UP from a source base station, a data based on the third information related to the data forwarding.

4 . A centralized unit-control plane (CU-CP) of a target base station in a wireless communication network, the CU-UP comprising:

a transceiver; and

at least one processor configured to:

receive, by the CU-CP, a handover request message from a core network node,

transmit, by the CU-CP to a CU-user plane (UP) of the target base station, a first message including a data forwarding information request, and first information on direct forwarding path availability; and

receive, by the CU-CP from the CU-UP, a second message including second information related to data forwarding,

wherein the second information related to the data forwarding includes a tunnel endpoint identifier (TEID) and a transport layer address for inter-system direct data forwarding, and wherein the transport layer address is an internet protocol (IP) address and is assigned by the CU-UP from an address space reserved for a source base station, and

wherein the second information related to the data forwarding is assigned by the CU-UP for the system direct data forwarding between a 5G system (5GS) and an evolved packet core (EPC), in case that the first information on the direct forwarding path availability in the first message is set to inter-system direct path available.

5 . The CU-UP of claim 4 , wherein the at least one processor is further configured to:

transmit, by the CU-CP to the core network via the transceiver, a handover request acknowledge message including third information related to the data forwarding.

6 . The CU-UP of claim 5 , wherein the at least one processor is further configured to:

receive, by the CU-UP from a source base station via the transceiver, a data based on the third information related to the data forwarding.
