Abstract

A method of handover signaling for quality of experience (QoE) measurement includes transmitting, by a first base station (BS) to a user equipment (UE), one or more messages that include first configuration parameters for QoE measurement and reporting, and second configuration parameters for radio conditions measurement and reporting, receiving, by the first BS from the UE one or more QoE measurement reports based on the first configuration parameters, and one or more radio conditions measurement reports based on the second configuration parameters; receiving, by the first BS from a second BS, an application protocol message with one or more information elements (IEs) associated with QoE support at the second BS; and determining, by the first BS, to handover the UE from the first BS to the second BS, based on: the QoE measurement reports, the radio conditions measurement reports and the values of the one or more IEs.

Claims (20)

1 . A method of handover signaling for quality of experience (QoE) measurement, comprising:

transmitting, by a first base station (BS) to a user equipment (UE), one or more messages comprising:

first configuration parameters for QoE measurement and reporting, the first configuration parameters indicating geography-based QoE measurement reporting for one or more tracking areas (TAs); and

second configuration parameters for radio conditions measurement and reporting;

receiving, by the first BS from the UE, one or more radio conditions measurement reports based on the second configuration parameters;

determining, by the first BS and based at least on the one or more radio conditions measurement reports, to handover the UE from the first BS to a second BS;

in response to the determining, transmitting by the first BS to the second BS, a handover request message comprising one or more information elements (IEs) indicating that the UE is in a QoE reporting session;

in response to transmitting the handover request message, receiving by the first BS from the second BS, a handover acknowledge message comprising a radio resource control (RRC) reconfiguration message comprising third configuration parameters of a cell of the second BS;

transmitting, by the first BS to the UE, the RRC reconfiguration message; and

maintaining tracking, by at least one of the first BS or the second BS, whether the UE is inside or outside the one or more of TAs.

2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

transmitting, to the UE, by at least one of the first BS or the second BS, an indication indicating the UE to manage start or stop of the QoE measurement.

3 . A method of handover signaling for quality of experience (QoE) measurement, comprising:

receiving, by a user equipment (UE) from a first base station (BS), one or more messages comprising:

first configuration parameters for QoE measurement and reporting, the first configuration parameters indicating geography-based QoE measurement reporting for one or more tracking areas (TAs); and

second configuration parameters for radio conditions measurement and reporting;

transmitting, by the UE to the first BS, one or more radio conditions measurement reports based on the second configuration parameters;

receiving, by the UE from the first BS, a handover command comprising configuration parameters of a cell provided by a second BS;

receiving, by the UE from at least one of the first BS or the second BS, an indication indicating whether the UE is inside or outside of the one or more of the TAs; and

managing, by the UE, start or stop of the QoE measurement based on the indication.
