Abstract

A method ( 1000 ) performed by a wireless device ( 110 ) includes obtaining ( 1002 ) location information associated with the wireless device and/or ephemeris data for a plurality of satellite cells. The wireless device receives ( 1004 ) a measurement configuration to measure reference signals from one or more satellite cells of the plurality of satellite cells. The wireless device dynamically adapts ( 1006 ) the measurement configuration based on the location of the wireless device and/or the ephemeris data for the one or more satellite cells. Based on the adapted measurement configuration, the wireless device measures ( 1008 ) a reference signal from the one or more satellite cells.

Claims (38)

1 . A method performed by a wireless device, the method comprising:

obtaining location information associated with the wireless device and ephemeris data for one or more satellite cells;

receiving a measurement configuration to measure reference signals from the one or more satellite cells;

dynamically adapting the measurement configuration based on the location of the wireless device and the ephemeris data for the one or more satellite cells;

transmitting, to a network node, a report indicating the adapted measurement configuration; and

based on the adapted measurement configuration, measuring a reference signal from the one or more satellite cells.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein adapting the measurement configuration comprises adapting a measurement window and/or at least one measurement gap associated with the measurement window.

3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein adapting the measurement window comprises shifting a start time of the measurement window.

4 . The method of claim 2 , wherein adapting the measurement window comprises adjusting a length of the measurement window.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the measurement configuration comprises a Synchronization Signal Block Measurement Timing Configuration, SMTC, and the reference signal comprises a Synchronization Signal Block, SSB.

6 . A method performed by a base station, the method comprising:

obtaining location information associated with a wireless device and ephemeris data for one or more satellite cells;

transmitting, to the wireless device, a measurement configuration for the wireless device to measure reference signals from one or more satellite cells;

receiving, from the wireless device, a report indicating the wireless device adapted the measurement configuration; and

dynamically adapting the measurement configuration based on the ephemeris data for the one or more satellite cells and the location information associated with the wireless device.

7 . The method of claim 6 , further comprising scheduling or not scheduling at least one uplink or downlink transmission for the wireless device based on the adapted measurement configuration.

8 . The method of claim 6 , wherein adapting the measurement configuration comprises adapting a measurement window and/or at least one measurement gap associated with the measurement window.

9 . The method of claim 8 , wherein adapting the measurement window comprises shifting a start time of the measurement window.

10 . The method of claim 8 , wherein adapting the measurement window comprises adjusting a length of the measurement window.

11 . A wireless device comprising processing circuitry and a memory, the processing circuitry operable to:

obtain location information associated with the wireless device and/or ephemeris data for one or more satellite cells;

receive a measurement configuration to measure reference signals from the one or more satellite cells;

dynamically adapt the measurement configuration based on the location of the wireless device and/or the ephemeris data for the one or more satellite cells;

transmit, to a network node, a report indicating the adapted measurement configuration; and

based on the adapted measurement configuration, measure a reference signal from the one or more satellite cells.

12 . The wireless device of claim 11 , wherein when adapting the measurement configuration the processing circuitry is operable to adapt a measurement window and/or at least one measurement gap associated with the measurement window.

13 . The wireless device of claim 12 , wherein when adapting the measurement window the processing circuitry is operable to shift a start time of the measurement window.

14 . The wireless device of claim 12 , wherein when adapting the measurement window the processing circuitry is operable to adjust a length of the measurement window.

15 . The wireless device of claim 11 , wherein the measurement configuration comprises a Synchronization Signal Block Measurement Timing Configuration, SMTC, and the reference signal comprises a Synchronization Signal Block, SSB.

16 . A base station comprising processing circuitry and a memory, the processing circuitry operable to:

obtain location information associated with a wireless device and/or ephemeris data for one or more satellite cells;

transmit, to the wireless device, a measurement configuration for the wireless device to measure reference signals from one or more satellite cells;

receive, from the wireless device, a report indicating the wireless device adapted the measurement configuration; and

dynamically adapt the measurement configuration based on the ephemeris data for the one or more satellite cells and the location information associated with the wireless device.

17 . The base station of claim 16 , the processing circuitry further operable to schedule or not schedule at least one uplink or downlink transmission for the wireless device based on the adapted measurement configuration.

18 . The base station of claim 16 , wherein when adapting the measurement configuration the processing circuitry is operable to adapt a measurement window and/or at least one measurement gap associated with the measurement window.

19 . The base station of claim 18 , wherein when adapting the measurement window the processing circuitry is operable to shift a start time of the measurement window.
