Magnetic medium having a soft underlayer with a magnetic anisotropy
View Patent ↗A magnetic medium for perpendicular magnetic data recording. The magnetic medium has a magnetically soft under-layer and a magnetically harder top layer. The magnetic under-layer has a magnetic anisotropy that is oriented in a radial direction relative to the magnetic medium. The magnetic anisotropy is induced by an anisotropic texture on the surface of the magnetic underlayer.
