Abstract

Regarding an antenna configuration ( 1 ) preferably provided for a telecommunication device and comprising a first resonator structure ( 6 ) and second resonator structure (RS) being capacitive coupled with the first resonator structure ( 6 ) it is suggested to provide the antenna configuration ( 1 ) with a control electrode ( 2 ) and a switching stage ( 3 ), said control electrode ( 2 ) by means of the switching stage ( 3 ) being switchably connected to ground (G) and said switching stage ( 3 ) enabling to change capacitive coupling of the two resonator structures ( 6 , RS) and thus to change the resonance frequency of the antenna configuration ( 1 ) and making possible to switch between a first frequency range and a second frequency range for enhancing the bandwidth and achieving improved matching of the antenna configuration ( 1 ).

Claims (8)

1. Antenna configuration for a telecommunication device, wherein the antenna configuration comprises a first resonator structure, a second resonator structure, and a control electrode, wherein said first and second resonator structures are capacitively coupled to one another, said control electrode being contactable from outside the antenna configuration for changing the capacitive coupling between the first resonator structure and the second resonator structure, wherein a switching means is associated with the control electrode, the switching means enabling switching a connection of the control electrode to a reference potential characterized in that the switching means comprises a switch and a pin diode, said pin diode is powered by a DC-source and switchable by means of the switch either into a non-conductive mode or into a conductive mode in which the switchable connection between the control electrode and the reference potential is short circuited.

2. Antenna configuration according to claim 1 , wherein the reference potential is ground.

3. Antenna configuration according to claim 1 , wherein the antenna configuration comprises a planar inverted F antenna or a shorted patch antenna or a stub antenna.

4. Antenna configuration according to claim 1 , wherein the antenna configuration comprises a dielectric substrate retaining the first resonator structure and the second resonator structure, the first resonator structure is connected to a feed line provided on the dielectric substrate, and the second resonator structure is electrically isolated from the first resonator structure, by means of the dielectric substrate and located adjacent to the first resonator structure, wherein the second resonator structure is connected to ground.

5. Antenna configuration according to claim 4 , wherein the first resonator structure and the second resonator structure are implemented as printed structures printed on a surface of the dielectric substrate.

6. Antenna configuration according to claim 4 , wherein the first resonator structure and the second resonator structure are at least partially located in the interior of the dielectric substrate.

7. Antenna configuration according to claim 6 , wherein the antenna configuration is manufactured by usage of low temperature cofired ceramic technology.

8. Telecommunication device, comprising an antenna configuration according to claim 1 .
