Abstract

A clip for a snap-in cable hanger with a top from which at least two clip arm(s) extend and at least one of the clip arm(s) formed with a clip tab projecting proximate a distal end. The top having a length greater than a diameter of the mounting hole and a width dimensioned to fit within a spring space when the snap-in cable hanger is seated upon the mounting hole. The clip arm(s) spaced apart proximate the diameter of the mounting hole, having a length longer than a depth of the mounting hole.

Claims (33)

1. A method for mounting a snap-in cable hanger upon a mounting hole, comprising the steps of:

deflecting a pair of legs of the snap-in cable hanger towards one another, into a spring space, the legs including a retaining feature;

inserting the legs through the mounting hole;

releasing the pair of legs from the spring space, the retaining feature of each leg engaging the mounting hole; and

inserting a clip into the mounting hole at the spring space, the clip dimensioned to fill the spring space;

wherein the clip is provided with:

a to from which at least two clip arm(s) extend;

at least one of the clip arm(s) formed with a clip tab projecting proximate a distal end:

the clip arm(s) spaced apart proximate a diameter of the mounting hole, having a length longer than a depth of the mounting hole, for attachment to the mounting hole; and

the top having a width dimensioned to fit within the spring space when the snap-in cable hanger is mounted upon the mounting hole.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the clip arm(s) have a radius of curvature on an outer surface that mates with the diameter of the mounting hole.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the clip arm(s) have a deflection characteristic whereby the clip arm(s) are deflectable toward each other to pass the clip tab(s) through the mounting hole.

4. (currently amended The method of claim 1 , wherein the clip arm(s) have reinforcing shoulder(s).

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the clip is a monolithic portion of a polymer material.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein a length of the top is greater than the diameter of the mounting hole.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the clip is a monolithic portion of sheet metal.

8. The method of claim 7 , wherein the top is an elongated loop which biases the clip arm(s) outward.

9. The method of claim 7 , wherein the clip tab(s) have at least one upward projecting protrusion.

10. The method of claim 1 , wherein insertion of the clip into the spring space inhibits deflection of the legs into the spring space, retaining the legs in engagement with the mounting hole.

11. The method of claim 1 , wherein the clip is removably coupled to the snap-in cable hanger.

12. A method for stabilizing a snap-in cable hanger mounted upon a mounting hole, comprising the steps of:

inserting a clip into the mounting hole at a spring space; the spring space operative to enable mounting of the snap-in cable hanger upon the mounting hole, by deflection of a pair of legs of the snap-in hanger into the spring space during insertion of the snap-in hanger into the mounting hole;

the clip dimensioned to fill the spring space between the pair of legs, preventing deflection of the legs towards one another for removal of the snap-in cable hanger from the mounting hole;

the clip comprising:

a to from which at least two clip arm(s) extend;

at least one of the clip arm(s) formed with a clip tab projecting proximate a distal end;

the clip arm(s) spaced apart proximate a diameter of the mounting hole, having a length longer than a depth of the mounting hole, for attachment to the mounting hole; and

the top having a width dimensioned to fit within the spring space when the snap-in cable hanger is mounted upon the mounting hole.

13. The method of claim 12 , wherein the clip arm(s) have a radius of curvature on an outer surface that mates with the diameter of the mounting hole.

14. The method of claim 12 , wherein the clip arm(s) have a deflection characteristic whereby the clip arm(s) are deflectable toward each other to pass the clip tab(s) through the mounting hole.

15. The method of claim 12 , wherein the clip arm(s) have reinforcing shoulder(s).

16. The method of claim 12 , wherein the clip is a monolithic portion of a polymer material.

17. The method of claim 12 , wherein a length of the top is greater than the diameter of the mounting hole.
