Abstract

Included are embodiments for detecting presence in a communications system environment. At least one embodiment of a method includes subscribing to events associated with a communication system and receiving a notification for an event, the event being associated with a communication between a first communications device and a second communications device.

Claims (26)

1. A method for detecting presence in a communications system environment, comprising:

subscribing to receive an indication related to events associated with a communication system, the events being tagged by a recorder that is configured as a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) endpoint using an SIP control protocol;

receiving a notification for an event, the event being associated with a communication between a first communications device and a second communications device and the notification being facilitated by an extraction of tagging data associated with presence data from a communication; and

receiving a request at a recorder controller, the request being to record at least a portion of the communication, and in response to receiving the request:

determining current recording resources at a plurality of recorders;

determining at least one recorder to record at least a portion of the communication based on the determined current resources;

sending a response from the recorder controller indicating the at least one recorder; and

invoking the recording at the determined at least one recorder, the recording beginning from a location specified in the response and including at least the tagging data to identify the at least a portion of the communication.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein subscribing to events associated with a communications system includes subscribing to events associated with a communications device.

3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising extracting at least one of the following: tagging data associated with the communication and presence data associated with the communication.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the notification includes presence data associated with the first communication device.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the notification includes presence data associated with the first communications device and the second communications device.

6. A non-transitory computer readable medium for detecting presence in a call control protocol environment containing instructions which, when executed in a computer cause the computer to perform the method contained in claim 1 .

7. The computer readable medium of claim 6 , containing instructions which, when executed in a computer cause the computer to perform the method contained in claim 2 .

8. The computer readable medium of claim 6 , containing instructions which, when executed in a computer cause the computer to perform the method contained in claim 3 .

9. The computer readable medium of claim 6 , containing instructions which, when executed in a computer cause the computer to perform the method contained in claim 4 .

10. The computer readable medium of claim 6 , containing instructions which, when executed in a computer cause the computer to perform the method contained in claim 5 .

11. A system for detecting presence in a communications system environment, comprising:

a subscribing component configured to subscribe to receive an indication related to events associated with first a communication device;

a notification receiving component configured to receive a notification for an event, the event being associated with a communication between the first communications device and a second communications device and the notification being facilitated by an extraction of tagging data associated with presence data from a communication;

a request receiving component configured to receive a request at a recorder controller to record at least a portion of the communication;

a resources determining component configured to, in response to receiving a request to record, determine current recording resources at a plurality of recording components, determine at least one recording component to record at least a portion of the communication based on the determined recourses; send a response from the recorder controller indicating the at least one recording component; and invoke the recording at the determined at least one recording component; and

a recording component configured to be a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) endpoint using an SIP control protocol, wherein in response to receiving a request to record at least a portion of the communication, the recording component records at least a portion of the communication and the tagging data beginning from a location specified in the response to identify the at least a portion of the communication in accordance with an SIP control protocol.

12. The system of claim 11 , further comprising an extracting component configured to extract at least one of the following: tagging data associated with the communication and presence data associated with the communication.

13. The system of claim 11 , wherein the notification includes presence data associated with the first communication device.

14. The system of claim 11 , wherein the notification includes presence data associated with the first communications device and the second communications device.
