Abstract

A method of transmitting a Physical Layer Convergence Procedure (PLCP) frame in a Very High Throughput (VHT) Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) system includes generating a MAC Protocol Data Unit (MPDU) to be transmitted to a destination station (STA), generating a PLCP Protocol Data Unit (PPDU) by adding a PLCP header, including an L-SIG field containing control information for a legacy STA and a VHT-SIG field containing control information for a VHT STA, to the MPDU, and transmitting the PPDU to the destination STA. A constellation applied to some of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplex (OFDM) symbols of the VHT-SIG field is obtained by rotating a constellation applied to an OFDM symbol of the L-SIG field.

Claims (22)

1. A method for receiving data in a wireless local area network, performed by a receiver, the method comprising:

receiving a signal field that is mapped onto a first binary phase shift keying (BPSK) constellation;

receiving a first Very High Throughput Signal (VHT-SIG) field that is mapped onto the first BPSK constellation; and

receiving a second VHT-SIG field that is mapped onto a second BPSK constellation;

wherein the second BSPK constellation is rotated by 90° counter-clockwise relative to the first BPSK constellation, and

wherein the first VHT-SIG field includes an indicator indicating Single User-Multiple Input Multiple Output (SU-MIMO) transmission or multi user-MIMO (MU-MIMO) transmission, and the second VHT-SIG field includes a cyclic redundancy check (CRC) for the first and second VHT-SIG fields.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the signal field is received in a first Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplex (OFDM) symbol, the first VHT-SIG field the signal field is received in a second OFDM symbol, the second VHT-SIG field the signal field is received in a third OFDM symbol.

3. The method of claim 2 , wherein the second OFDM symbol is contiguous with the third OFDM symbol.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the signal field, the first VHT-SIG field and the second VHT-SIG field are received as a physical layer protocol data unit (PPDU).

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first VHT-SIG field further includes a multiplexing number indicating a number of spatial streams.

6. A device configured for receiving data in a wireless local area network, the device comprising:

a first interface for implementing a medium access control (MAC) layer; and

a second interface for implementing a physical layer and configured to:

receive a signal field that is mapped onto a first binary phase shift keying (BPSK) constellation;

receive a first Very High Throughput Signal (VHT-SIG) field that is mapped onto the first BPSK constellation; and

receive a second VHT-SIG field that is mapped onto a second BPSK constellation;

wherein the second BSPK constellation is rotated by 90° counter-clockwise relative to the first BPSK constellation, and

wherein the first VHT-SIG field includes an indicator indicating Single User-Multiple Input Multiple Output (SU-MIMO) transmission or multi user-MIMO (MU-MIMO) transmission, and the second VHT-SIG field includes a cyclic redundancy check (CRC) for the first and second VHT-SIG fields.

7. The device of claim 6 , wherein the signal field is received in a first Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplex (OFDM) symbol, the first VHT-SIG field the signal field is received in a second OFDM symbol, the second VHT-SIG field the signal field is received in a third OFDM symbol.

8. The device of claim 7 , wherein the second OFDM symbol is contiguous with the third OFDM symbol.

9. The device of claim 6 , wherein the signal field, the first VHT-SIG field and the second VHT-SIG field are received as a physical layer protocol data unit (PPDU).

10. The device of claim 6 , wherein the first VHT-SIG field further includes a multiplexing number indicating a number of spatial streams.
