Conjugated linoleic acid compositions
View Patent ↗Novel compositions containing conjugated linoleic acids are efficacious as animal feed additives and human dietary supplements. Linoleic acid is converted to its conjugated forms in which the resulting composition is low in certain unusual isomers compared to conventional conjugated linoleic products.
1. An isomerized conjugated linoleic acid composition comprising c9,t11-octadecadienoic acid and t10,c12-octadecadienoic acid wherein the total amount of said c9,t11-octadecadienoic acid and t10,c12-octadecadienoic acid is at least 50% and the total amount of 11,13-octadecadienoic and 8,10-octadecadienoic acid isomers is less than 1%.
2. The composition of claim 1 , wherein said conjugated linoleic acid composition is a methylester.
3. An isomerized conjugated linoleic acid composition comprising c9,t11-octadecadienoic acid and t10,c12-octadecadienoic acid, wherein the total amount of said c9,t11-octadecadienoic acid and t10,c12-octadecadienoic acid is at least 50% and the total amount of 11,13-octadecadienoic and 8,10-octadecadienoic, and trans-trans-octadecadienoic acid isomers is less than 1%.
4. The composition of claim 3 , wherein said conjugated linoleic acid composition is a methylester.
5. A food product comprising isomerized conjugated linoleic acid, said isomerized linoleic acid composition comprising c9,t11-octadecadienoic acid and t10,c12-octadecadienoic acid isomers, wherein the total amount of said c9,t11-octadecadienoic acid and t10,c12-octadecadienoic acid is at least 50% and the total amount of 11,13-octadecadienoic and 8,10-octadecadienoic acid isomers is less than 1%.
6. The food product of claim 5 , wherein said conjugated linoleic acid composition is a methylester.
7. A food supplement comprising isomerized conjugated linoleic acid, said isomerized linoleic acid composition comprising c9,t11-octadecadienoic acid and t10,c12-octadecadienoic acid isomers, wherein the total amount of said c9,t11-octadecadienoic acid and t10,c12-octadecadienoic acid is at least 50% and the total amount of 11,13-octadecadienoic and 8,10-octadecadienoic acid isomers is less than 1%.
8. The food supplement of claim 7 , wherein said conjugated linoleic acid composition is a methylester.
9. An isomerized conjugated linoleic acid composition comprising at least fifty percent conjugated linoleic acid, said isomerized linoleic acid composition comprising c9,t11-octadecadienoic acid and t10,c12-octadecadienoic acid isomers, wherein the total amount of said c9,t11-octadecadienoic acid and t10,c12-octadecadienoic acid is at least 50% and the total amount of 11,13-octadecadienoic and 8,10-octadecadienoic acid isomers is less than 1%.
10. The composition of claim 9 , wherein said conjugated linoleic acid composition is a methylester.
