Abstract

A system and method for modifying indirect addresses in a document. The indirect address is modified based on the type of indirect address, the context in which the document is viewed, and the user interface used to view the document.

Claims (11)

1. A computer implemented method of generating a document, comprising:

receiving a request to provide a document, the document comprising a template and content;

retrieving a document template and a document content, the document template or the document content including an indirect address;

determining a context of the document, wherein the document is a web page and the context comprises a template preview, a page preview, a local publish or an external publish;

determining an indirect address type of the indirect address, wherein the indirect address is a uniform resource locator and the type comprises a site relative uniform resource locator, a template relative uniform resource locator, a page relative uniform resource locator, a system relative uniform resource locator, or a same page link uniform resource locator;

obtaining a site base for the requested document, the site base comprising a first portion of an absolute uniform resource locator;

combining the site base and the indirect address to form an absolute address by modifying the indirect address based on the context of the document and the indirect address type of the indirect address; and

combining the template, the content, and the absolute address to create the document.

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising identifying a second indirect address in the template or the document content and modifying the second indirect address to be a page relative uniform resource locator.

3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising identifying a third indirect address in the template or the document content and modifying the third indirect address to remove a marking symbol from the indirect address.

4. The method of claim 1 , further comprising identifying a fourth indirect address in the template or the document content and modifying the fourth indirect address to be a page relative uniform resource locator.
