Method for detecting the presence of monomeric brain associated human glutamine synthetase
View Patent ↗A method for diagnosing Alzheimer's disease(AD) is disclosed. The method involves directly detecting the presence of a biochemical marker, specifically human glutamine synthetase, in bodily fluid, preferably blood or a blood product. The detection is by an immunoassay incorporating an antibody specific to human glutamine synthetase. In addition, a method for distinguishing between AD and non-AD dementia is disclosed.
1. A method for detecting monomeric brain associated human glutamine synthetase in a sample using a monoclonal antibody produced against human glutamine synthetase, whereby said monoclonal antibody is specific for monomeric brain associated human glutamine synthetase having a molecular weight of about 44 kDa, which comprises contacting the sample with the monoclonal antibody and detecting specific binding of the monoclonal antibody to monomeric brain associated human glutamine synthetase whereby said monomeric brain associated human glutamine synthetase in said sample is detected.
2. A method for detecting monomeric brain associated human glutamine synthetase in a sample using a monoclonal antibody encoded by the clone deposited with the ATCC as Accession Number PTA-3339, whereby said monoclonal antibody is specific for monomeric brain associated human glutamine synthetase having a molecular weight of about 44 kDa, which comprises contacting said sample with said monoclonal antibody and detecting specific binding of said monoclonal antibody to monomeric brain associated human glutamine synthetase whereby said monomeric brain associated human glutamine synthetase in said sample is detected.
3. A method for detecting monomeric brain associated human glutamine synthetase in a sample using a monoclonal antibody encoded by the clone deposited with the ATCC as Accession Number PTA-3340, whereby said nonoclonal antibody is specific for monomeric brain associated human glutamine synthetase having a molecular weight of about 44 kDa, which comprises contacting said sample with said monoclonal antibody and detecting specific binding of said monoclonal antibody to monomeric brain associated human glutamine synthetase whereby said monomeric brain associated human glutamine synthetase in said sample is detected.
