Abstract

A system and method for personalizing an interactive voice output of a voice service based on determinations about the caller or call, the output containing information derived from on line analytical processing (OLAP) systems, where content stored in the database can be readily obtained by a requester on the fly and in a personalized, interactive manner. The system and method include a call server for receiving an incoming call from a caller, an inference module for determining information about a voice service to be provided to the caller, a control module related to the information determined and for facilitating the interactive voice broadcast with the caller, and a personalization module for passing determined information to the control module.

Claims (36)

1. A method for customized voice output delivery over a voice network comprising:

a request for a voice service output;

determining information for personalizing the voice service output based on at least one particular of the request;

generating speech based on information determined and at least one markup language document generated in a voice-specific XML-based markup language to provide customized voice output;

delivering the generated speech to the caller over the voice network;

detecting information about a caller's interaction on the voice network;

personalizing subsequent voice service output based on information about a caller's interaction on the voice network;

generating text based on information determined about the caller's interaction and at least one markup language document generated in a voice-specific XML-based markup language to provide customized voice output; and

delivering generated speech to the caller over the voice network based on the generated text.

2. The method of claim 1 wherein the request comprises an incoming call to a voice delivery system.

3. The method of claim 1 wherein the information comprises information regarding who made the request.

4. The method of claim 3 wherein the information comprises the identity of the individual making the request.

5. The method of claim 1 wherein the information comprises information regarding when the request was made.

6. The method of claim 5 wherein the information comprises the day the request was made.

7. The method of claim 5 wherein the information comprises the time the request was made.

8. The method of claim 1 wherein the information comprises information regarding where the request was made.

9. The method of claim 8 wherein the information comprises a voice service.

10. The method of claim 8 wherein the information comprises the location of the individual making the request.

11. A system for customized voice output delivery over a voice network comprising:

a call server for receiving a request for a voice service output;

a personalization module for determining information for personalizing the voice service output based on at least one particular of the request;

a parsing engine for accessing text for the caller based on the information determined and from at least one markup language document generated in a voice-specific XML-based markup language;

a text to speech engine for generating speech from the text for delivery to the caller;

a detection module that detects information about a caller's interaction on the voice network;

wherein the personalization module personalizes subsequent voice service output based on information about a caller's interaction on the voice network;

wherein the parsing engine accesses text based on information determined about the caller's interaction and at least one markup language document generated in a voice-specific XML-based markup language to provide customized voice output; and

wherein the text to speech engine generates to the caller over the voice network based on the parsing engine output.

12. The system of claim 11 wherein the request comprises an incoming call to the system.

13. The system of claim 11 wherein the information comprises information regarding who made the request.

14. The system of claim 13 wherein the information comprises the identity of the individual making the request.

15. The system of claim 11 wherein the information comprises information regarding when the request was made.

16. The system of claim 15 wherein the information comprises the day the request was made.

17. The system of claim 11 wherein the information comprises the time the request was made.

18. The system of claim 11 wherein the information comprises information regarding where the request was made.

19. The system of claim 18 wherein the information comprises a voice service.

20. The system of claim 18 wherein the information comprises the location of the individual making the request.
