Abstract

Glass fibers are disclosed. The glass fibers can be used, for example, in a lead acid battery.

Claims (16)

1. A plurality of glass fibers having an average length of from 0.1 millimeter to 1.5 millimeters, wherein the plurality of glass fibers has an average diameter of from 0.5 micron to 6.5 microns and the plurality of glass fibers has an acid absorption of less than 1350%.

2. The plurality of glass fibers of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of glass fibers has an average length of less than 0.5 millimeter.

3. The plurality of glass fibers of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of glass fibers has an average length of less than 0.4 millimeter.

4. The plurality of glass fibers of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of glass fibers has an average length of at least 0.15 millimeter.

5. The plurality of glass fibers of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of glass fibers has an average diameter of from one micron to five microns.

6. The plurality of glass fibers of claim 1 , wherein at least some of the plurality of glass fibers are substantially uncoated.

7. The plurality of glass fibers of claim 1 , wherein at least some of the plurality of glass fibers are substantially nonhollow.

8. The plurality of glass fibers of claim 1 , wherein at least some of the plurality of glass fibers are substantially nonporous.

9. The plurality of glass fibers of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of glass fibers has an acid absorption of less than 1300%.

10. The plurality of glass fibers of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of glass fibers has an acid absorption of less than 1200%.

11. The plurality of glass fibers of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of glass fibers has an acid absorption of less than 1100%.

12. The plurality of glass fibers of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of glass fibers has an acid absorption of less than 1000%.

13. The plurality of glass fibers of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of glass fibers has an acid absorption of less than 900%.

14. The plurality of glass fibers of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of glass fibers has an acid absorption of less than 800%.

15. The plurality of glass fibers of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of glass fibers has an acid absorption of less than 500%.

16. The plurality of glass fibers of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of glass fibers has an acid absorption of less than 300%.
