Therapeutic uses of BPI protein products in BPI-deficient humans
View Patent ↗New therapeutic uses for BPI protein products that involve treatment of subjects with a BPI deficiency condition, including selective BPI deficiency, and newborns, including BPI-deficient newborns.
1. A method of treating a subject with a BPI deficiency condition comprising administering to said subject a BPI protein product concurrently with a second therapeutic agent in an amount effective to alleviate the BPI deficiency.
2. The method of claim 1 wherein the subject is an adult.
3. The method of claim 1 wherein the condition is a selective BPI deficiency.
4. The method of claim 1 wherein the subject is a newborn.
5. The method of claim 4 wherein the newborn is a premature newborn.
6. The method of claim 1 wherein the BPI protein product is rBPI 21 .
7. The method of claim 1 wherein the BPI protein product is an N-terminal fragment of BPI having a molecular weight approximately between about 20 to 25 kd.
8. The method of claim 1 wherein the BPI protein product is rBPI(10-193)ala 132 .
9. The method of claim 1 wherein the BPI protein product is rBPI 50 .
10. A method of treating a subject with a BPI deficiency condition comprising administering to said subject an amount of BPI protein product in a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier effective to alleviate the BPI deficiency.
11. The method of claim 10 wherein the pharmaceutically acceptable carrier is citrate buffered saline.
12. The method of claim 10 wherein the BPI protein product is administered systemically.
13. The method of claim 12 wherein the BPI protein product is administered orally.
14. The method of claim 12 wherein the BPI protein product is administered intravenously.
15. The method of claim 12 wherein the BPI protein product is administered intramuscularly.
16. The method of claim 12 wherein the BPI protein product is administered subcutaneously.
17. The method of claim 12 wherein the BPI protein product is administered transdermally.
18. The method of claim 12 wherein the BPI protein product is administered intrapulmonarily.
19. The method of claim 12 wherein the BPI protein product is administered intraperitonealy.
20. The method of claim 12 wherein the BPI protein product is administered intrathecally.
21. The method of claim 12 wherein the BPI protein product is administered intraocularly.
22. The method of claim 10 wherein the BPI protein product is administered topically.
