Abstract

CAIP polypeptide, nucleic acids, ands uses thereof.

Claims (12)

1. A method for evaluating a compound for the ability to modulate binding of a CAIP polypeptide with CD2, or a CAIP-binding fragment thereof, comprising:

(i) combining (a) CD2, or the CAIP-binding fragment thereof, (b) a CAIP polypeptide having an amino acid sequence at least 80% identical to the sequence of SEQ ID NO:2, wherein the CAIP polypeptide is capable of binding to the intracellular domain of CD2, and (c) a compound, under conditions wherein in the absence of the compound, the CAIP polypeptide and CD2, or the CAIP-binding fragment thereof, are able to bind; and

(ii) detecting the binding of the CAIP polypeptide and CD2, or the CAIP-binding fragment thereof, wherein

a change in the binding in the presence of the compound relative to the binding in the absence of the compound is indicative of a modulation of binding.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the compound inhibits the binding between the CAIP polypeptide and CD2, or the CAIP-binding fragment thereof.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the combining step is performed in vitro.

4. The method of claim 3 , wherein the in vitro combining step is performed in a cell free system.

5. The method of claim 3 , wherein the in vitro combining step is performed in a cell lysate.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the CAIP polypeptide is at least 90% identical to the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:2.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the CAIP polypeptide is at least 95% identical to the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:2.

8. The method of claim 1 , wherein the CAIP polypeptide is at least 98% identical to the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:2.

9. The method of claim 1 , wherein the CAIP polypeptide is at least 99% identical to the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:2.
