Problem area location in an image signal
View Patent ↗In a method of locating problem areas in an image signal (I), a motion vector field (Df) is estimated for the image signal (I), and edges are detected in the motion vector field (Df). In a corresponding method of interpolating images between existing images (I), image parts are interpolated (MCI) in dependence upon a presence of edges; preferably, an order statistical filtering (med) is used at edges.
1. A method of locating problem areas in an image signal, the method comprising the steps:
estimating a motion vector field for said image signal;
detecting edges in the motion vectors field; and
comparing edge locations in successive field periods to identify both foreground and background.
2. A device for locating problem areas in an image signal, the device comprising:
means for estimating a motion vector field for said image signal; and
means for detecting edges in the motion vector field, wherein said device comprises:
means for comparing edge locations in successive field periods to identify both foreground and background.
