Abstract

The invention discloses an identifiable flexible printed circuit board (PCB) and a method of fabricating the same. The identifiable flexible PCB includes a flexible substrate, a conductive layer, and a printing ink layer. First, the conductive layer is formed over a surface of the flexible substrate. Second, the printing ink layer is formed on the surface of the flexible substrate by coating, exposing, and developing to uncover parts of the conductive layer. Also, at least one identifiable area is formed on the printing ink layer and one can easily and correctly identify the cartridge with the flexible PCB.

Claims (39)

1. An identifiable flexible printed circuit board (PCB), disposed to an inkjet cartridge, comprising:

a flexible substrate having a first surface;

a conductive trace formed over the first surface; and

a printing ink layer, formed on the first surface by coating, exposing, and developing to uncover parts of the conductive trace, and at least one identifiable area formed on the printing ink layer.

2. The flexible PCB according to claim 1 , wherein the color of the identifiable area is presented by adding at least one colorant to the printing ink layer.

3. The flexible PCB according to claim 2 , wherein the color of the colorant added in the printing ink layer is selected from the group consisting of black, cyan, magenta, yellow, light black, light cyan, light magenta, light yellow, orange, green, light orange, and light green.

4. The flexible PCB according to claim 1 , wherein the identifiable area comprises an identifiable mark.

5. The flexible PCB according to claim 1 , wherein the material of the flexible substrate comprises at least one of polyimide (Pl), Teflon, polyamide, polymethylmethacrylate, polycarbonate, polyester, and polyamide polyethylene-terephthalate copolymer.

6. The flexible PCB according to claim 1 , wherein the material of the printing ink layer is a liquid photo imagerable polymer.

7. The flexible PCB according to claim 6 , wherein the liquid photo imagerable polymer is solder mask.

8. The flexible PCB according to claim 6 , wherein the liquid photo imagerable polymer is polyimide (Pl).

9. The flexible PCB according to claim 1 , wherein the printing ink layer is formed by a method selected from the group consisting of screen printing, spray coating, curtain coating, and roller coating.

10. The flexible PCB according to claim 1 , wherein the steps of forming the printing ink layer further comprises post-curing.

11. An identifiable flexible printed circuit board (PCB), disposed to an inkjet cartridge, comprising:

a flexible substrate having a first surface;

a conductive trace formed over the first surface; and

a printing ink layer formed on the first surface to uncover parts of the conductive trace, and at least one identifiable area formed on the printing ink layer, the identifiable area comprising an identifiable mark for identifying the flexible PCB.

12. The flexible PCB according to claim 11 , wherein the color of the identifiable area is presented by adding at least one colorant to the printing ink layer.

13. The flexible PCB according to claim 12 , wherein the color of the colorant added in the printing ink layer is selected from the group consisting of black, cyan, magenta, yellow, light black, light cyan, light magenta, light yellow, orange, green, light orange, and light green.

14. The flexible PCB according to claim 11 , wherein the material of the flexible substrate comprises at least one of polyimide (Pl), Teflon, polyamide, polymethylmethacrylate, polycarbonate, polyester, and polyamide polyethylene-terephthalate copolymer.

15. The flexible PCB according to claim 11 , wherein the material of the printing ink layer is a liquid photo imagerable polymer.
