Abstract

Providing contact data in a wireless telecommunication system comprises receiving a selection remotely for at least one contact data record in a contact database using at least one of an interactive voice response system (IVR), a voice portal, and a short message service. Next, providing contact data includes transferring wirelessly the at least one contact data record into a memory module of a mobile station in the wireless telecommunication system. In addition, providing contact data in a wireless telecommunication system may include maintaining the contact database by uploading data records into the contact database.

Claims (27)

1. A method for providing contact data in a wireless telecommunication system, comprising:

receiving contact information from a first mobile station for at least one contact data record in a memory module of the first mobile station using at least one of an interactive voice response system (IVR), a voice portal, and a short message service;

transferring wirelessly the at least one contact data record into a contact database located remotely from the first mobile station;

receiving a selection from a second mobile station for the at least one contact data record in the contact database using at least one of an interactive voice response system (IVR), a voice portal, and a short message service; and

transferring wirelessly the at least one contact data record into a memory module of the second mobile station in the wireless telecommunication system, the contact database located remotely from the second mobile station.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein transferring wirelessly the at least one contact data record into the memory module of the second mobile station comprises using at least one of a short message service, and the internet.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein receiving a selection from the second mobile station for the at least one contact data record and transferring wirelessly the at least one contact data record into the memory module of the second mobile station are performed automatically when a subscriber identity module (SIM) is placed in the second mobile station.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the at least one contact data record comprises data including at least one of an e-mail address, and a telephone number.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the contact database is hosted by a wireless telecommunication system provider.

6. A system for providing contact data in a wireless telecommunication system, comprising:

a component for recieving a selection from a first mobile station for at least one contact data record from a memory module of the first mobile station using at least one of an interactive voice response system (IVR), a voice portal, and a short message service;

a component for transferring wirelessly the at least one contact data record into a contact database located remotely from the first mobile station;

a component for receiving a selection from a mobile station for the at least one contact data record from the contact database using at least one of an interactive voice response system (IVR), a voice portal, and a short message service; and

a component for transferring wirelessly the at least one contact data record into a memory module of the second mobile station in the wireless telecommunication system, the contact database located remotely from the second mobile station.

7. The system of claim 6 , wherein the component for transferring wirelessly the at least one contact data record into the memory module of the second mobile station is further configured for using at least one of a short message service, and the internet.

8. The system of claim 6 , further comprising a subscriber identity module (SIM), the component for receiving the selection from the second mobile station and the component for transferring wirelessly the at least one contact data record into the memory module of the second mobile station further configured for performing their function automatically when the subscriber identity module (SIM) is placed in the second mobile station.

9. The system of claim 6 , wherein the at least one contact data record comprises data including at least one of an e-mail address, and a telephone number.

10. The system of claim 6 , wherein the contact database is hosted by a wireless telecommunication system provider.

11. A computer-readable medium which is stored a set of instructions for providing contact data in a wireless telecommunication system, which when exceuted perform stages comprising:

receiving a selection from a first mobile station for at least one contact data record in a memory module of the first mobile station using at least one of an interactive voice response system (IVR), a voice portal, and a short message service;

transferring wirelessly the at least one contact data record into a contact database located remotely from the first mobile station;

receiving a selection from a second mobile station remotely for the at least one contact data record in the contact database using at least one of an interactive voice response system (IVR), a voice portal, and a short message service; and

transferring wirelessly the at least one contact data record into a memory module of the second mobile station in the wireless telecommunication system, the contact database located remotely from the second mobile station.

12. The computer-readable medium of claim 11 , wherein transferring wirelessly the at least one cotact data record into the memory module of the second mobile station comprises using at least one of a short message service, and the internet.

13. The computer-readable medium of claim 11 , wherein receiving a selection from the second mobile station for at least one contact data record and transferring wirelessly the at least one contact data record into the memory module of the second mobile station are performed automatically what a subscriber identity module (SIM) is placed in the second mobile station.

14. The computer-readable medium of claim 11 , wherein the at least one contact data record comprises data including at least one of an e-mail address, and a telephone number.

15. The computer-readable medium or claim 11 , wherein the contact database is hosted by a wireless telecommunication system provider.
