Abstract

The present invention features a novel use of processed ingredients from the Indian mulberry plant, and particularly a novel use of one or more processed Morinda citrifolia -based naturaceutical formulations comprising one or more of a processed Morinda citrifolia fruit juice, puree juice, oil or oil extract, dietary fiber, alcohol extract, etc., for inhibiting and preventing the overgrowth of Candida fungus and for treating Candidiasis and its associated symptoms.

Claims (26)

1. A method for treating Candidiasis, said method comprising the steps of:

introducing a naturaceutical composition comprising processed Morinda citrifolia juice, between 0.1–30 percent by weight of Morinda citrifolia oil, between 0.1 and 20 percent by weight of and Quercetin to an area or region of the body of a mammal inflicted with Candida albicans.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein said Quercetin is present in an amount between about 0.1 and 20 percent by weight.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein said processed Morinda citrifolia juice is present in an amount between about 0.01 and 100 percent by weight.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein said processed Morinda citrifolia juice is present in an amount between about 50 and 99 percent by weight.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein said naturaceutical composition further comprises a processed Morinda citrifolia extract selected from the group consisting of ethyl acetate, ethanol, methanol, and aqueous extracts.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein said naturaceutical composition further comprises a processed Morinda citrifolia fruit juice concentrate.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein said naturaceutical composition further comprises processed Morinda citrifolia puree juice.

8. The method of claim 1 , wherein said naturaceutical composition further comprises Morinda citrifolia oil extract.

9. The method of claim 1 , wherein said naturaceutical composition further comprises Morinda citrifolia dietary fiber.

10. The method of claim 1 , wherein said processed Morinda citrifolia product further comprises Rutin as an additional active ingredient that synergistically works with said Quercetin to treat said Candidiasis.

11. The method of claim 10 , wherein said Rutin is present in an amount between about 0.1 and 20 percent by weight.

12. The method of claim 1 , wherein said naturaceutical composition is embodied in an oral composition that is administered orally.

13. The method of claim 1 , wherein said naturaceutical composition is embodied in a topical dermal composition and is administered topically to said infected area and internalized transdermally.

14. The method of claim 1 , wherein said naturaceutical composition is administered by injection into said infected area.

15. The method of claim 1 , wherein said naturaceutical composition is administered intravenously.

16. The method of claim 1 , wherein said naturaceutical composition functions to inhibit the overgrowth of Bacillus cereus, Bacillus mycoids, Sarcina lutea, Candida albicans, Saceharomyces cerevisiae, Fusarium oxysporum var. vasinfectum, Macrophomina phaseoli, Diplodia oryzae, Rhizoctonia solani, Helminthosporium turcicum, Aspergillus carneus, and others to treat said Candidiasis.

17. The method of claim 1 , wherein said naturaceutical composition further comprises processed Morinda citrifolia fruit juice concentrate.

18. The method of claim 1 , wherein said naturaceutical composition further comprises processed Morinda citrifolia puree juice concentrate.

19. The method of claim 1 , wherein said Morinda citrifolia oil is present in an amount between 0.1 to 20 percent by weight.

20. A method for inducing antimicrobial effects within the body, said method comprising the steps of:

introducing a naturaceutical composition comprising a processed Morinda citrifolia juice between 0.1–30 percent by weight of Morinda citrifolia oil between about 0.1 and 20 percent by weight of and Quercetin to an area or region of the body of a mammal inflicted with Candida albicans., wherein said processed Morinda citrifolia juice comprising an active ingredient.

21. The method of claim 20 , wherein said active ingredient is Rutin.

22. The method of claim 20 , wherein said active ingredient is Xeronine.

23. The method of claim 20 , wherein said active ingredient is Quercetin.

24. The method of claim 20 , wherein said Morinda citrifolia oil is present in an amount between 0.1 to 20 percent by weight.
