Abstract

An extension arm suitable for mounting a flat-screen electronic peripheral device, including a forearm extension having at one end a first coupling for attachment to a tilter, a platform or other means for supporting a flat-screen device and at the other end a second coupling. The extension arm also includes a pair of end caps, each having a shaft. The shaft of the first end cap is pivotably rotatable in a support mount, such as a wall, desk or pole mount. The shaft of the second end cap is pivotably rotatable in the second coupling of the forearm extension. The extension arm also includes an upper channel and a lower channel. Each channel has at opposite ends a pair of integrally cast rollers which are pivotably attached to each of the end caps. The upper and lower channels and the end caps form an adjustable parallelogram.

Claims (22)

1. A forearm extension for use in an extension arm that adjustably mounts a device to a support mount, said forearm extension comprising a body having an interior formed between a pair of spaced apart sidewalls, a top wall and an open bottom; a first coupling rigidly attached at a first end of said body which precludes relative movement between said first coupling and said body, said first coupling including an opening provided by an inner surface having a plurality of voids formed therein surrounding said opening; and a second coupling rigidly attached at a second end of said body which precludes relative movement between said second coupling and said body, wherein said first coupling has a top end and a bottom end, said plurality of voids extending between said top and bottom ends.

2. The forearm extension of claim 1 , wherein said second coupling has a set screw contained in a sidewall thereof.

3. The forearm extension of claim 1 , wherein said second coupling includes an inner surface having a plurality of voids formed therein.

4. The forearm extension of claim 1 , wherein said first coupling has a set screw contained in a sidewall thereof.

5. The forearm extension of claim 1 , wherein said inner surface prevents communication between said opening and said interior of said body.

6. The forearm extension of claim 1 , wherein said body is u-shaped.

7. The forearm extension of claim 1 , wherein a centerline of said first coupling and a centerline of said second coupling are aligned with a longitudinal centerline of said body.

8. The forearm extension of claim 1 , wherein a lower surface of said body is aligned above a lower edge of said first coupling and aligned with a lower edge of said second coupling.

9. The forearm extension of claim 1 , wherein said body is disposed at an angle between said first coupling and said second coupling when said first coupling and said second couplings are disposed such that an axial centerline of each said first and second couplings are vertical.

10. The forearm extension of claim 1 , wherein said body is horizontally disposed between said first coupling and said second coupling when said first coupling and said second couplings are disposed such that an axial centerline of each said first and second couplings are vertical.

11. A forearm extension for use in an extension arm that adjustably mounts a device to a support mount, said forearm extension comprising a body formed by a pair of spaced apart sidewalls, a top wall and an open bottom, said sidewalls forming an open interior portion of said body; a first coupling formed from a first walled member providing an opening therein, said first walled member including an inner surface having a plurality of voids formed therein surrounding said opening, said first coupling rigidly attached to one end of said body which precludes relative movement between said second coupling and said body; and a second coupling formed from a second walled member providing an opening therein, said second coupling rigidly attached to the other end of said body which precludes relative movement between said first coupling and said body, said first and second walled members preventing communication between said openings in said first and second couplings and said interior portion of said body, wherein said first coupling has a top end and a bottom end, said plurality of voids extending between said top and bottom ends.

12. The forearm extension of claim 11 , wherein said opening in said first coupling extends therethrough.

13. The forearm extension of claim 11 , wherein said first walled member includes a set screw having an end in communication with said opening therein.

14. The forearm extension of claim 11 , wherein said opening in said second coupling extends there through.

15. The forearm extension of claim 11 , wherein said second walled member includes a set screw having an end in communication with said opening therein.

16. The forearm extension of claim 11 , wherein said second walled member includes an inner surface having a plurality of voids formed therein.

17. The forearm extension of claim 11 , wherein said body is u-shaped.

18. The forearm extension of claim 11 , wherein a centerline of said first coupling and a centerline of said second coupling are aligned with a longitudinal centerline of said body.

19. The forearm extension of claim 11 , wherein a lower surface of said body is aligned above a lower edge of said first coupling and aligned with a lower edge of said second coupling.

20. The forearm extension of claim 11 , wherein said body is disposed at an angle between said first coupling and said second coupling when said first coupling and said second coupling are disposed such that an axial centerline of each said first and second couplings are vertical.

21. The forearm extension of claim 11 , wherein said body is horizontally disposed between said first coupling and said second coupling when said first coupling and said second coupling are disposed such that an axial centerline of each said first and second couplings are vertical.

22. The forearm extension of claim 11 , wherein said first and second couplings are hollow cylindrical members.
