Abstract

A display device composed of: (a) a cathode; (b) an anode; (c) a luminescent region between the cathode and the anode; and (d) an optional region adjacent to the cathode or the anode, wherein the device includes a plurality of metal-organic mixed layers disposed at one or more of the cathode, the anode, the luminescent region and the optional region, wherein each of the metal-organic mixed layers includes: (i) an inorganic metal containing material, and (ii) an organic material.

Claims (48)

1. A display device comprising:

a cathode;

an anode;

a luminescent region between the cathode and the anode; and

a charge injection layer between the luminescent region and at least one of the cathode and the anode,

wherein one or more of the cathode and anode includes a plurality of metal-organic mixed layers, wherein each of the metal-organic mixed layers comprises:

an inorganic metal containing material, and

an organic material.

2. The device of claim 1 , wherein the metal-organic mixed layers are non-adjacent.

3. The device of claim 1 , wherein the number of metal-organic mixed layers ranges from two to three.

4. The device of claim 1 , wherein each of the metal-organic mixed layers further comprises: a component selected from the group consisting of metals, organic materials, and inorganic materials.

5. The device of claim 1 , wherein the metal-organic mixed layers include the same inorganic metal containing material at the same concentration.

6. The device of claim 1 , wherein the metal-organic mixed layers include the same inorganic metal containing material at different concentrations.

7. The device of claim 1 , wherein the metal-organic mixed layers include the same inorganic metal containing material in the same or different concentration, wherein the inorganic metal containing material is selected from the group consisting of silver and a silver compound.

8. The device of claim 1 , wherein the metal-organic mixed layers include the same inorganic metal containing material at the same concentration and the same organic material at the same concentration.

9. The device of claim 1 , wherein the metal-organic mixed layers include the same inorganic metal containing material at different concentrations and the same organic material at different concentrations.

10. The device of claim 1 , wherein the anode comprises indium-tin-oxide.

11. A display device comprising:

a cathode;

an anode; and

a luminescent region between the cathode and the anode,

wherein the cathode includes a plurality of metal-organic mixed layers, wherein each of the metal-organic mixed layers comprises:

an inorganic metal containing material, and

an organic material.

12. The device of claim 11 , wherein the metal-organic mixed layers are adjacent.

13. The device of claim 11 , wherein the number of metal-organic mixed layers ranges from two to three.

14. The device of claim 11 , wherein each of the metal-organic mixed layers further comprises: a component selected from the group consisting of metals, organic materials, and inorganic materials.

15. The device of claim 11 , wherein the metal-organic mixed layers include the same inorganic metal containing material at the same concentration.

16. The device of claim 11 , wherein the metal-organic mixed layers include the same inorganic metal containing material at different concentrations.

17. The device of claim 11 , wherein the metal-organic mixed layers include the same inorganic metal containing material in the same or different concentration, wherein the inorganic metal containing material is selected from the group consisting of silver and a silver compound.

18. The device of claim 11 , wherein the metal-organic mixed layers include the same inorganic metal containing material at the same concentration and the same organic material at the same concentration.

19. The device of claim 11 , wherein the metal-organic mixed layers include the same inorganic metal containing material at different concentrations and the same organic material at different concentrations.

20. The device of claim 11 , wherein the anode comprises indium-tin-oxide.

21. A display device comprising:

a cathode;

an anode;

a luminescent region between the cathode and the anode; and

a charge injection layer between the luminescent region and at least one of the cathode and the anode,

wherein one or more of the cathode and anode includes a plurality of adjacent metal-organic mixed layers, wherein each of the metal-organic mixed layers comprises:

an inorganic metal containing material, and

an organic material.

22. The device of claim 21 , wherein the number of metal-organic mixed layers ranges from two to three.

23. The device of claim 21 , wherein each of the metal-organic mixed layers further comprises: a component selected from the group consisting of metals, organic materials, and inorganic materials.

24. The device of claim 21 , wherein the metal-organic mixed layers include the same inorganic metal containing material at the same concentration.

25. The device of claim 21 , wherein the metal-organic mixed layers include the same inorganic metal containing material at different concentrations.

26. The device of claim 21 , wherein the metal-organic mixed layers include the same inorganic metal containing material in the same or different concentration, wherein the inorganic metal containing material is selected from the group consisting of silver and a silver compound.

27. The device of claim 21 , wherein the metal-organic mixed layers include the same inorganic metal containing material at different concentrations and the same organic material at different concentrations.
